We are rebuilding, trust me.

No losing season since 1988, then a dramatic fall-off for ONE year. We get a new coaching staff and the best RB in the draft. We lose one star cb and strengthen our D-line and LB core. Our weirdo Heisman RB is coming back.
We're not rebuilding, we're retooling. The new schemes may not gell on game 1 but by mid-season things should come together. Comparisons to the 01 Bills are ridiculous. I'm not predicting a playoff spot but I will say we will be over .500 for sure.

I disagree to an extent. The NFL, in its current machination, is set up for any given team to be able to make 180 degree turn at any moment. Winning is contagious. The strength of schedule is based on last year's teams - it mostly means NOTHING. We have a nice shot at 3 and 3 in the East if not better. I will not be surprised to see the Dolphins be very competitive this year. Injuries are everything in our situation, so hopefully we'll stay healthy. I think if we do the AFC East title is a realistic possibility. I also expect at least one rookie to really shine and two or three to start by the end of the year. Victories this year will be considered a surprise by many, so many will be surprised. This team is loaded with talent, has a strong fan base, a fantastic coaching staff and history of winning.

Dumbstadt created a fever of pessimism and so many on this site are still deeply infected. Those days are over.
Saban has already won the battle to win the hearts and minds of players and assembled the top coaching staff, arguably in the NFL. He had a potentially GREAT draft, a very good free agency period including and especially what he did with veteran Dolphin players - who he kept and who he let go.

I expect the Chargers to struggle and even tank this year. I expect Arizona to be a highly competitive team. The Vikings too.

We are rebuilding, but modern rebuilding is a lot different than it was twenty + years ago. I have high hopes for the team this year but I won't set myself up to think playoff run. I've been doing that for over 30 years and let me tell you I have been one disappointed MF. :(

These days rebuilding is a short 2-3 year process. We won't be 4-12 this year, but on the other hand we won't be 12-4. The team needs to come together and gel and become a cohesive unit. Don't be surprised if we lose 3 out of our first 4 games while we go through growing pains. By mid-season we'll hit stride and be able to see what the '05 Fins are really all about.

Alot of people on here are very excited about this upcoming season, including myself. We have alot of new players, new coaches, new offensive and defensive systems, and a new outlook. We have the makings of a very good team down the road if it all gels.

Now the reality. We are in the toughest division in the AFC, the AFC itself is tough, the defending champs are in our division, and we have the toughest schedule in the NFL this season. Most of our pickups are stop gap vets to help us be competitive on short contracts, As good as any of our rookies are they are at least two to three years from being dominant players and our current vets will be learning new systems.

The truth of the matter is this is merely the beginning of out rebuilding process. Any hopes of a playoff apperance this year should be tempered with the understanding that there have been many changes to our team this off-season. Now I know we'll be better this year but I'm really looking forward to what shape this team will be in two years from now.

So, what's your point?

I read this, and didn't find a true point. I see you stating the obvious; 'the team is rebuilding'. No way!!!! Seriously?

Then, there's the speculation: our rookies "are two to three years from being dominant". How in the he11 would you (or anyone, for that matter) know that? They may be complete busts that never start a game in the NFL, they may be complete superstars, or they may be mediocre players. No one knows until they play, otherwise the draft would be a much simpler process.

This looks like commentary from every other thread on here.

wow, has anyone actually looked at the picture of the buffalo in the Bills picture?? The snorting nose is under the mouth, what the hell?!

I think that's a breathe-right strip, not his mouth. His head is tilted down.

Thats fine if you want to look at the Dolphins conservatively.

I do disagree with some of your sweeping generalizations though, we don't know how quickly Ronnie Brown, Matt Roth , Channing Crowder and Travis Daniels might impact this team, it could very well be much sooner than you think.

From my perspective, Saban is clearly trying to compete now to the best of his ability with what he has to work with, I would say he has done far more than I thought possible this quickly.

I was in the camp that felt this year had no hope of any real success, but after seeing everyone thats been brought in including the coaching staff, I feel anything is possible this year, perhaps not probable, but very possible.

Agreed completely.

Saban CLEARLY is NOT in an all out rebuilding mode with this team.
I really have no idea what people who keep posting the same old regurgitated "rebuilding" rhetoric are coming up with this.

The FA acquisitions Saban has made show Saban is interested in winning now as well as later. A team in rebuilding mode does not bring in the amount of Veterans that Saban has at this point.

Me neither...I don't see a mouth at all.

All I want is this season to start so we can prove were a better team than 4-12 and if we cant go to the playoffs I hope we can help The Bills,Jet's or the Pat's from not going also. But when you hear them talk were going to go 0-6 vs the division.. Some say at best were going to be 8-8 that's fine as long as we have 3 division wins in there..:cooldude:
A Buffalo and ones that's so rare to be a Bill has its mouth in it's A$$
they are hard to seperate until it tries to speak then it becomes clear!!
Now can you see it??:roflmao:

Of course we've been rebuilding this offseason... but Nick one of the fastest rebuilders I've ever seen.... I'm looking forward to a winning season, deep into the playoffs and maybe a SB ring

I just don't really see a full out rebuilding process going on here, a lot of the guys we have brought in are older, yet still pretty good players that were signed to very short contracts.

These guys are here on short deals to replace the players that we cut. Saban will see who pans out this season and augment next years team with them.

This is not how you rebuild a team, if we were in total rebuilding mode, Saban would be trying to get guys who are young up and comers, and signing them to long term deals.

Most good up and comers are already signed to long term deals with the team that drafted them. Saban wants to build with the draft not with 30 year old free agents.

We may be in somewhat of a rebuilding process in that we are just rebuilding A GOOD TEAM that Wanny messed up, we already had too much talent, and added too much talent for me to think that we're going to struggle for a few years before we see dividends on our aquisitions
Welcome to todays NFL. Sure we can turn it around in one year but we can also sit stuck in the cellar for 10 years (Bengals, Cards, Saints) just as easy if we keep trying for the quick fix. Saban is not doing this and I can assure you alot of the guys picked up may not make it through camp or will for sure be gone by next season.

Buddy.. this is NOT rebuilding. IT's a makeover in philosophy and a tweakage in personel. The Tennessee Titans are Rebuilding. I bet you we're DEFINATELY over .500 and contending for a playoff spot.
How is bringing over 30 new players to the team in one off-season not rebuilding????

8-8

I just see a team that can get the ball downfield to people who can catch it, and can be counted on to run the ball with the now all-star backfield we have. The defense should be a little off from last year, but that translates into possible winner. Superbowl? Nah...Possible winner. I forecasted 8-8 to be safe though.
