We are rebuilding, trust me.

No losing season since 1988

No Superbowl apperances either. Saban is making his team, and Rome wasn't built in a day.

We get a new coaching staff and the best RB in the draft. We lose one star cb and strengthen our D-line and LB core. Our weirdo Heisman RB is coming back.
Pinning our hopes to our weirdo RB sure instills me with zeal. Our d-line was a shambles and all Saban did was get it back up to servicable.

We're not rebuilding, we're retooling. The new schemes may not gell on game 1 but by mid-season things should come together.

By midseason you can be out of a playoff spot and have key players lost to injury. We still don't have the depth, can't you guys see this. God it's like the dudes that said our O-line would be the greatest, last off-season.

Comparisons to the 01 Bills are ridiculous. I'm not predicting a playoff spot but I will say we will be over .500 for sure.

If we're retooling, then not making the playoffs is just retooling for not making the playoffs??????

We are rebuilding, but modern rebuilding is a lot different than it was twenty + years ago. I have high hopes for the team this year but I won't set myself up to think playoff run. I've been doing that for over 30 years and let me tell you I have been one disappointed MF. :(

These days rebuilding is a short 2-3 year process. We won't be 4-12 this year, but on the other hand we won't be 12-4. The team needs to come together and gel and become a cohesive unit. Don't be surprised if we lose 3 out of our first 4 games while we go through growing pains. By mid-season we'll hit stride and be able to see what the '05 Fins are really all about.
Great post.:cooldude:

So, what's your point?

Uh, chill out everyone and don't go off like stupid homers.

I read this, and didn't find a true point. I see you stating the obvious; 'the team is rebuilding'. No way!!!! Seriously?

Wow good for you Skippy, you figured out the point all on your own like a big boy.

Then, there's the speculation: our rookies "are two to three years from being dominant". How in the he11 would you (or anyone, for that matter) know that? They may be complete busts that never start a game in the NFL, they may be complete superstars, or they may be mediocre players. No one knows until they play, otherwise the draft would be a much simpler process.

That's exactly what I was implying, there are no assurances they will be good and it will take time for dominace to be assured. One year does not mean dominance, ninny.

This looks like commentary from every other thread on here.

And this looks like a common ignorant rebuttal with no substance.

Trust you???? Come on now!!!
I have been right before, like is Shawn Merriman going to make his team, sounds like a bit of a head case with character issues.

Thats fine if you want to look at the Dolphins conservatively.

Ok and you can have wild expectations then, feel free.

I do disagree with some of your sweeping generalizations though, we don't know how quickly Ronnie Brown, Matt Roth , Channing Crowder and Travis Daniels might impact this team, it could very well be much sooner than you think.
That in itself is a sweeping generalization. I don't think they will be dominate players for a couple of years, if ever. I class dominate as multiple strong seasons by a player.

From my perspective, Saban is clearly trying to compete now to the best of his ability with what he has to work with, I would say he has done far more than I thought possible this quickly.
I agree, he obvoiusly wants to put a competitive team on the field. I just think we'll need more time for the new systems to be like a religion to our players like they need to be.

I was in the camp that felt this year had no hope of any real success, but after seeing everyone thats been brought in including the coaching staff, I feel anything is possible this year, perhaps not probable, but very possible.
I agree but my point was that next year is more probable and the year after that even more so.

How is bringing over 30 new players to the team in one off-season not rebuilding????

no that is retooling. If he was rebuilding he would have a bunch of under 26 year old players

Saban CLEARLY is NOT in an all out rebuilding mode with this team.
I really have no idea what people who keep posting the same old regurgitated "rebuilding" rhetoric are coming up with this.

It's called REALITY my friend, you should check it out sometime.

The FA acquisitions Saban has made show Saban is interested in winning now as well as later.
regurgitation.........urp..........

A team in rebuilding mode does not bring in the amount of Veterans that Saban has at this point.
Short term deals to bring in players to replace the ones we lost. "Rebuild with the draft", sound familiar???

Under 26 players are under contract if they are any good, or RFA's. Some of these vets are to stop the bleeding and will be replaced by next season.

I just see a team that can get the ball downfield to people who can catch it, and can be counted on to run the ball with the now all-star backfield we have. The defense should be a little off from last year, but that translates into possible winner. Superbowl? Nah...Possible winner. I forecasted 8-8 to be safe though.
I agree with your prediction, very realistic.:cooldude:

I disagree to an extent. The NFL, in its current machination, is set up for any given team to be able to make 180 degree turn at any moment. Winning is contagious. The strength of schedule is based on last year's teams - it mostly means NOTHING. We have a nice shot at 3 and 3 in the East if not better. I will not be surprised to see the Dolphins be very competitive this year. Injuries are everything in our situation, so hopefully we'll stay healthy. I think if we do the AFC East title is a realistic possibility. I also expect at least one rookie to really shine and two or three to start by the end of the year. Victories this year will be considered a surprise by many, so many will be surprised. This team is loaded with talent, has a strong fan base, a fantastic coaching staff and history of winning.

Dumbstadt created a fever of pessimism and so many on this site are still deeply infected. Those days are over.
Saban has already won the battle to win the hearts and minds of players and assembled the top coaching staff, arguably in the NFL. He had a potentially GREAT draft, a very good free agency period including and especially what he did with veteran Dolphin players - who he kept and who he let go.

I expect the Chargers to struggle and even tank this year. I expect Arizona to be a highly competitive team. The Vikings too.

I totally agree with you. The parity in this league is set up so that any team can win at anytime. Look we beat NE last year with what amounts to nothing. We had no O-Line, no RB, no WR's other than Chambers. Booker did not show up at all. This year we have so much that is new. I cannot wait to see what happens. I think that we can surprise alot of teams. Look at SD. They did the same turnaround two years ago. They went from last to first. Injuries are the key as you mentioned. If we stay healthy as NE has then we have a chance. Plus with Ricky back and Ronnie we will have depth at RB for once. This gives us a advantage that most teams do not have. Two starting RB's. Look what Pittsburgh did last year with the Bus and Duce.

Should be a much better year to be a Fins Fan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111

You can go from the top to nothing just as easy and you can also languish at the bottom of the conference for years.

That is not how you rebuild. What team rebuilds with stop gaps?
