Week 3 reaction thread

I am pretty weirded out by Preston Williams so far.

Is he a #2? Hes barely showing anything since the season has started.

I wish Bowden gets activated over Hollins man
Hollins lined up as emergency TE on that 3rd down at the end and drove his guy 10 yards off the ball. Also a great specialist.. Bowden hopefully starts to be an active member soon

The whole offense was impressive. Would like to see a little more Breida in the passing game. They threw to him once and got pass interference so he looks hard to cover.

The defense had good pass rush with 4 sacks. Van Noy had great game and Hill made good plays. Other LBs need to improve coverage and tackling. CBs played well and X-man showed why you should not throw his way. Safeties. were good too. They had a tough time tackling Robinson. I saw other safeties in the game which was good. Flo changed the coverages which was good.

Looking forward to good game against SEATTLE. Pass rush will be key in that game. Need to hope Houston loses this weekend.

* This was a situational influence game. An 0-2 road team is desperate because there's massive difference between 0-3 and 1-2. Consequently you often see the most energetic intense effort of the year during that scenario. I've mentioned this many times over the years and referenced it the other day, but as specified I was worried that the short week might lessen the advantage. Instead, it was glaring from the opening snap. I've seen it unfold that way so many times I was never concerned from that point. The outcome was basically decided once Miami flashed that 0-2 road zeal. Amidst situational normalcy I might have thought Jacksonville cutting it to two scores early 4th was worrisome. Not in an 0-2 game. Last example I remember that really stood out was Buffalo two years ago in Josh Allen's rookie year. They got blown out twice and were something like an 18 point underdog at Minnesota in week three, then proceeded to take down half the country in the survivor pool by blowing out the Vikings by three touchdowns.

* The uniforms were indeed the second story of the night. The aqua pants should be donated for scrap material tomorrow and never seen again. White on white is so classy it almost totally distracts from the sickening motion sickness logo. Plus the Jaguars deserved to lose, like every team that trots out there in dark on dark

* Austin Jackson was feisty tonight, not merely on the penalty play but all the time. I think he is seeing film review of Kindley and sensing he needs to match that tendency

* Raekwon Davis was absent early. I thought he might be benched throughout. He finally showed up second quarter but still didn't show much except power a couple of times

* Noah had a weak game. I was actually more bothered by him tonight than last week. I never paid much attention to him at Auburn because my first glimpse of him there stood out in two ways...he was unaware in the red zone and particularly when the ball was in the air, never bothering to turn around. Consequently I was really surprised when he became so highly rated later on. I mentioned in the Draft Forum that the red zone/turn around tendencies had caused me to ignore him. Those same issues were prevalent tonight, but not taken advantage of since Minshew happened to miss the touchdown when pressured by Van Noy, and Noah just happened to get his fingers on another potential touchdown pass when he again lacked the instincts to turn and find. I'm not sure those flaws can be fully corrected. Noah's lack of stature hurts him in those end zone throws because not only does he have his back turned but since he runs somewhat tilted forward his overall body print is small.

* It's often very interesting to see how non-divisional games vary from division games. The Bills and especially the Patriots were well aware of Fitzpatrick's line drive tendency over the middle. So defending those plays became the priority. But the Jaguars were unfamiliar and not ready at all. In particular, you could see the linebackers and safeties had no clue that Fitzpatrick drops the platform and makes those throws semi-sidearm, causing the ball to leave at a different angle than first glance. Many slow motion replays revealed the Jaguar defenders covering the area where an over the top throw would have gone, then next thing you know it's down here and therefore 5 feet further right than you expected.

A good win. Could have kept our foot on the pedal in the second half, but it turned out to be unnecessary. Nice to win in prime time.

Tackling has to get better.

Austin Jackson gained a fan tonight.

Also....I think the young cub at QB sitting on the bench....if he is the competitor I believe he is, wants to go.

As I heard tonight, it is wise to put something in front of him to allow some success. Give the young man just alittle more time. Give our young and learning oline a few more weeks to establish themselves.

Patience is a virtue.

Also it was nice to see the team show up for a Thursday night game. We have been routed on Thursday repeatedly. Also Im a Laker, Dodger and Man City fan so my teams were a tasty 4-0 today wooooo #FINSUP

Noah Igbinoghene is going to be great in my opinion. I’m not sure why everyone doubts him. You don’t always have to turn and look for the ball. You’re coached to try to shoot your hands through the receiver’s hands at the catch point with your back turned. It’s exactly what he did in the end zone.

Turning around to look for the ball in certain situations can cost you. He knew he was unlikely to be able to turn around and locate it anyway. Getting your head around is a confidence thing with DB’s. Igbo isn’t playing with confidence yet - the game is still moving a little fast for him at the moment. But I believe he will. This is all so new to him. Playing DB.

I’m wondering if some of the people who doubt him happened to catch any of C.J. Henderson tonight. It’s the most difficult position for young players to adjust to.

Yeah, more difficult than quarterback.
