what about McQuarters at CB?

I don't know if McQuarters is better than the CBs we have now. I'd rather take a look at T-Buck who should be cheaper.

McQuarters would be an excellent pickup and an upgrade over what we have currently IMO. That said, I would hesitate to give up a draft pick for him knowing what our staff can do with even low draft picks.

A 7th pick generally has very little to no value. They are almost strictly depth picks - and, almost as a rule, 7th-round defensive backs aren't very good. I can't think of any off the top of my head.

McQuarters is something of a shutdown CB, and Chicago has had a pretty good pass defense the past few years. If he ends up getting released, we don't have to worry about his contract. Personally, I would think that McQuarters is worth a 7th. If Buchanon went for a 2nd and a 3rd and Surtain for a 2nd, then McQuarters is bargain-basement at a 7th.

hes a definate starter. as it stands now, IMO, the fins only have 1 definate starting CB.

your looking for a staring CB to replace an injured player. McQuarters would be a hell of a pick up.

Why give up the pick when you can get him for free. Wait until he's cut.

The problem is, waiting can burn you. My gut says that McQuarters, at his age and with his talent, won't last for a 7th. Somebody will (or at least should) trade for him.

if he's a FA, then yeah, but not for a pick.

I just checked and the Bears fans dont really want to lose him they just want him to take a pay cut. His base salary in 2004 was 2.75 million, I would assume it will only go up from there.Bears Salary for 2004

According to the point scale, the average 7th round pick is worth 7.8 points and the average 2nd round pick is worth 425. The highest 2nd is 575 and the lowest is 275. The highest 7th is worth 15.6 and the lowest nearly zero. Assuming we would trade the 1st pick in the 7th round for McQuarters (and for the sake of argument let's say Surtain went for the lowest pick in the 2nd) then Surtain has a value of 17.6 times that of McQuarters. If you believe that, then something is wrong.

If there wasn't other options out there then I would have pulled the trigger on this deal the minute Poole was hurt. Thing is we have already have two corners pulling down starter salaries. There are other corners available that we can bring in for a song. Seeing as our need in nickle corner, I see T Buck as a cheaper alternative, with no lost pick.

WOW Got this off a bears message board......

McQuarters could be released before the start of the season  he’s due $6.5 million total in 2005-06.

Can you say HELL NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've seen that guy get burnt tooooooo many times. He'll make a great KR or PR but a DB, no way!!!!!!!:shakeno:

He's worth having if we can get him at a reasonable price. Believe me, I've seen this guy play a lot being stuck in the Bears viewing zone, and he is a playmaker.
