No more first time coaches, their learning curve is steep and we watch them screw up year after year! We have ha Saban, Scam Cameron, Tony Soprano, Phailbin and Gase. They've all had issues with game management, team management, personnel issues, arrogant visions of their systems....
Please keep the 4-3 defense, changing back and forth caused us to use too many resources to overhauling defenses that didnt necessarily need to be overhauled!
We need an identity and become the best at that identity. Personally I think the smashmouth running game with an aggressive defense is the best. But you still have to have a really good, accurate and decisive QB to lead that team.
Being the finesse team we've been the past 7 years or so, when we've played against physical teams we tend to get blown out, usually in embarrassing fashion. I'm tired of feeling hopeless when down a score going into the 4th quarter. Also, since we've become a finesse west coast offense we cannot score early, our last 2 coaches have been below average in first half scoring!
We need physicality and talent across both lines, that doesn't mean we must use first round picks there. We all know where the talent is on this team, we've got to add to it.
I personally would offer a pick for a proven winner coach who may want a change of scenery and the desire to dethrone and eventually pummel the crap out of the poor winners in Boston.
That's not to say build a team to beat N.E., we need a team built to beat everyone. It takes a commitment to theidentity and following through in every move, moves, coaching, adjustments, roster decisions that facilitate the identity!
