Why would anyone take Pitts over Smith?

Besides that, Flo has made the point (more than once) that he doesn't see things as simple positions. He looks at spots (areas) of the field, and how to create mismatches.
It would be a little unconventional, and likely wouldnt be an every down thing for sure, but with a little imagination, it isn't out of the realm of reality either.
Empty backfield as your base set?
You would like to put your best players on the field most of the time. So count'em, Parker, Fuller, Smith, Gesicke, Pitts....so empty backfield as you base set?
I didn't anything about base? In fact, I said not an every down thing.
I was just pointing out that, with a little innovation, there is no reason it couldnt be effective.
Either MG, or Pitts are more than capable of lining up at various spots. It would create not only mismatches, but also put a DC in a tough position with personnel package substitution.
There was an earlier report that there was only one team considering Sewell in the top 5. That was almost assuredly Cincy. I think it will be a toss up for them between Sewell and Chase. I think the whole, "he's a generational talent" thing with Sewell has gone away. He's a great athlete and a great prospect, but he's not perfect and he's never gone up against even good college pass rushers. DJ's latest board has Sewell as the 12th best player.

Is the receiver we are drafting comparable to guys like Julio Jones, Megatron, and etc? Is Pitts comparable to the best tight ends in the league? Base on domination at least we seen Pitts all over the field making all kinds of catches from all kinds of situation. I am looking at not just separation, but also difficulty of catches. From the games I seen Pitts we can see him catch about anything in traffic. At the end of the day, there are many skilled players in WR, and TE. But in terms of TE, there is only one Pitts.

That's about right - if he has him one spot behind Radunz at #11. Sewell is #12 on my board.

I put Pitts behind Smith, Chase, Waddle.
Now I am thinking Pitts and Waddle are even, and both of them are ahead of Smith and Chase., best suit for us anyway.

I don't understand the Waddle pick at 6 from people in here or even Mel Kiper's mock. Yes, he is the best prospect at slot. Your slot receiver isn't even the focus of an offense so why would you draft him so high? Why not take Toney in the 2nd round if he happens to be there? There are options at slot later on. I may agree with picking Chase at 6, or at least come in terms with the pick, but not any Bama receiver.
