Yahoo says Harbaugh to Fins/Michigan because players are disgruntled

Saints won the SB with Payton. On offensive minded coach that won with excellent offense and the help of a defense that was able to create a great amount of turnovers through out their playoff run.

Seahawks won the SB with Carroll. A defensive minded coach that won with a defense whose accomplishments hadn't been seen since the '85 Bears and a ball control offense.

49ers have Harbaugh. A former QB and offensive minded coach who's only success has been found through a defense (who's core was set before he got there along with the benefit of high draft picks the season he entered) and a stout running game through Frank Gore, who was also in San Fran before JM. Harbaugh made a horrible choice in sticking with Kaepernick over Alex Smith in which the area of QB is supposedly Harbaugh's 'bread n butter' so to speak and has done nothing in his field of expertise to raise the level of play that he "excels" in.

That doesn't alarm anyone here?

Now let's take a look at the locker room situation rumors that some are passing off as no big deal. Sorry, but... ARE ****ING KIDDING ME?! Didn't not anyone whom is trying to look over those things forget WTF we went through last year with locker room turmoil. And you want to top of the insanity of that, the same guy your clamoring for went out and signed the same POS snake that started all the problems with our team in the first place. Talk about irony.

I'm not over here trying to collect fund money for a statue for Philbin to built in front of Joe Robbie, but the clown that you seek out in San Fransisco is, with out a doubt in my mind, not the answer for the Miami Dolphins.

he made a SB w/ Kaepernick and was a very close call away from winning that SB.

In that SB run they averaged 34 PPG scoring on O and allowed 25 PPG

they nearly won a SB b/c of OFFENSE not defense.

harbaugh is the best coach in this game. Took over a team that hadn't even made the playoffs since 2002 and has led them to 3 title games and a SB app.

How could the 49ers and their fans forget that just 4 years ago they were the west coasts equivalent of the Miami Dolphins? I just can't believe they would risk going back to that.

How could the Buccaneers forget what they had been for decades when they got rid of Dungy? Eddie DeBartolo eventually drove Bill Walsh into retirement with their incessant fighting. In fact, one of the better reasons to think that the 49ers won't let Harbaugh leave is because DeBartolo has specifically told Jed York (who's his nephew) not to make the same mistake he did if he has a "once in a decade coach."

It doesn't happen often, but it's not unheard of, either.

Have to disagree, Harbaugh is not the best coach in the game, he gets out coached by Pete Carroll regularly, his brother has out coached him and I would take Bruce Arians, Belicheck and Rex Ryan over him.......If Rex gets the ax at the end of the season I would much rather have him as HC than Harbaugh....Rex took his team to the championship game two yrs in a row his first 2 yr as HC with less talent than Harbaugh had.....if Rex had Harbaugh roster he would have a ring right now....

I certainly wouldn't bet my life against it happening and I'm sure there is a large faction of fans willing to check the other side for greener grass, and those fools will get what they deserve, but still there must be somebody with some common sense in that building. If the Seahawks hadn't lucked out on Wilson the 49ers would be enjoying Patriots type domination in that division but without Harbaugh the Seahawks wont be touchable. And now Bruce Ariens is looking like he could be special too. The 49ers fans will realize a whole new level of suck if this happens.

he is 4-2 against Carrol in reg season, lost a last second game at Seattle in playoffs last year.

lost by a FG to Baltimore in the final seconds

I love Rex and think he is a top 10 coach but I think the Harbaugh brothers are 1 and 2 w/ Jim at #1.

They will forget because of a guy named Trent Baalke who took over as GM in March of 2010 and was player personnel for 4 yrs prior and coincidentally was named executive of the yr for the 2011 season ....this is the guy that assembled that talented team, he is smart enough to not give up his authority to please Harbaugh, instead he will bring in another competent coach who hopefully get them a ring....this guy takes a back seat to no one.....my guess is the 49ers will not make the playoffs this yr and Harbaugh will either sign a contract that is status quo or he will leave and go to a place where he can call all the shots.....and then everyone will see he's just another dude....

turned Stanford into a power and led SF back among the elite. Harbaugh has proven he isn't "just another dude".

Its beyond silly that on this board by some Dennis Allen is considered just as a good a coach as jim Harbaugh because they have the same amount of rings lol.

Remember that sig you had about how only on finheaven people will bemoan the firing of a 1-15 coach?

Pete Carroll teams before Russel Wilson were defense only and frankly not a very good football teams, since Russell they are 3-2 with two blow outs against the 49ers....Rex has done so much with so little it amazes me, the job he did last yr in winning 8 games with no wide receivers and a rookie QB who turned the ball over regularly all he had on offense was a good running game that performance was worthy of coach of the yr IMO....the defense was stout and he used it to create turnovers and get good field position....if Woody got out of the way and let the GM go buy some real groceries the Jets would be contending for championships....the Jets problems are Woody and Woody alone....

Lets see what he can do when he coaching without his asst and he has to assemble a coaching staff......that's a damn good coaching staff he has so I give him credit for understanding that and using them to his full potential......but being a great college coach and building programs doesn't make you the man in the pro's ask Spurrier and Saban about that.... like I said I give him credit for what he did in San Fran but I think he gets to much credit and now he's a bit over rated...

First let me clarify that I never said hold on to Philbin, I don't want Harbaugh......His first yr on the job he won in the worst division in football, the Cardinals came in 2nd with only 8 wins and they played the nfc east which was won by the giants with a 9-7 record only team over 500, and in 2010 the division winner in the west won 7 games so that's the reason it appear they had a tougher schedule 2011 vs 2010.....so dominating that division his first yr not as impressive as you make it out to be when the next best team only won 8 games. Then he got beat by a 9-7 Giant team at home in the championship game......His best team was in 2012, had to go on the road with a rookie QB and win in Atlanta to get to the SB....Lost to team he should have beat...now that he is in the toughest division in football lets see if he makes the playoffs...

I think he is a good coach but not as good is you think he is......if he leaves San Fran his success will be based on the staff he will have to assemble at his next stop....I think San Fran will make his OC or DC the head coach and probably keep most of the assistants in place...the same team that came with him from Stanford is the biggest reason why he has been successful at this level......Harbaugh is better than Philbin but he's no Belicheck....If he leaves San Fran someone is going to pay him a lot of money to coach an average team at best.....

Amusing how you focus on short period of time and the supposed faults of teams that are not coached by the man in question in order to cast doubt over Harbaugh...then praise Belicheck. Have you seen our division the last few years? Second place team has finished with an 8-8 or lower record for 3 straight years. Doesnt that mean Belicheck's division titles dont count? Or something?

Lets take a look at ole' Belicheat. In his first 6 seasons on the job, he finished with 5 losing records. The one year he made the playoffs he didnt make it to the championship game(which according to this thread is really easy and Philbin should have absolutely no excuse for not making it). He didnt win a division title until his 7th season as a head coach, and that was a full decade after he was first hired by the Browns. Belichick inherited a team that was only a few years removed from a Superbowl berth and was quarterbacked by a pretty good player in Drew Bledsoe and took it to a 6-10 record.

Belichick only had success after stumbling across a Hall of Fame quarterback. And he started cheating. Even with those advantages, he won his rings by a combined 9 points. Meanwhile, Harbaugh has elevated the play of Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernik to the point where they got his teams to the edge of a Superbowl berths and victory. Belichick deserves credit for constantly adjusting his scheme to fit the talent available and remaining competitive for years on end. But Jim Harbaugh is the better coach. He too adjusted his schemes to fit the talent, but the talent he had to work with was far inferior.

And for the record: the fact that Harbaugh was averaging 12 wins a year might have something to do with the reason why the teams in the division finished with less than stellar records. You know, just maybe.

In a league where coaches like Dennis Allen filter in and out in a little over 2 years, Rex is under .500 (actually .444) in his last 50 games with no divisional championships... and is getting a free ride from the owner.
