Realistically, what would you trade for LUCK?

the only thing i would part with cam wake for would be a qb...his value for me is worth more than any other position in football..edge rusher is at a premium

i think i'm happier than the wife...lol

anyways...if you were the new york jets lets say and you were offered cam wake for a 1st and a 3rd round pick would you not jump out of your shoes at it??? i'm tellin ya i wouldn't part with cam wake for less than top 10 draft pick compensation...minimum...and i'd have to think about it real damn hard and see whats on the board before i pulled the trigger

It depends... on what pick in the 1st round it is, etc..

If you look at the history of the premier sack artists in the league that were traded (Jared Allen, etc.)... If you factor in age, production, etc.. you should be able to get in the ball park of what a guy like Wake's trade value is...

But I know that you're not going to offer Cameron Wake and pull off a trade for a franchise quarterback (Peyton, Brady, Brees, Ryan, Rivers, etc.)...

If you don't have the quarterback the rest don't mean sh*t...

Why is a pass rusher a premium position?

imo like qb like left tackle edge pass rusher is a premium position....elite pass rushing olb or 4-3 ends are gold

Yeah.. what I meant was, pass rusher is a premium position because of the quarterback... just like left tackle is... not vice versa.

Everything about the game of football revolves around the quarterback position... it's why it's the most important position in team sports...period. It's why you have to have one... it's why that's how you build a winning football team...

You're not trading the "best left tackle in the league", for the 5th best quarterback in the league...

You're not trading the "best pass rusher in the league", and getting the 6th best quarterback in the league...

If you don't have the franchise signal caller in your stable, you're chasing your tail... simple as that.

i understand all that...

Unless your getting Manning/Brady or Rivers I wouldn't trade Long or Wake or anybody that creates a very difficult hole to fill. What would be the point of creating a huge hole somewhere else to fill another? Again unless that's for the very best QB, I would much rather dump draft picks like our next 3 1st rounders. We have a very young lineup, majority of our goto players are already locked up in contracts. So we could actually get away without those picks as long as we are smart in FA with low price, contributing depth. I would part with 3 1st rounds for Luck in a heart beat!

Because you can build a team around a franchise QB...you can't build a team around a franchise LT or pass rushing specialist.

hoops,TedSlimm,CK,and anyone else...if Luck does come out,and there is NFL Football next year, and Carolina holds the number 1 pick in the draft, and we,like every other QB starved&needy team have made our offer to them(whatever it may be) to trade up to their top spot, and they tell us to throw in Cam Wake and it's a deal...Wake's a Carolina Panther folks...i love having Wake as a phin,i really do,and i LOVE what he brings to the table for us,his all out motor,100% effort, the whole 9 yards, but having a FRANCHISE QB trumps EVERYTHING else on that field, and i personally believe Andrew Luck will be a Franchise QB,and i'd love for him to be our next Franchise QB...we can get more pass rushing OLBers who'll develop into the next Cam Wake,or become a stud in their own right, but getting a Franchise QB is hard, and we need one badly!!!!

I understand that but why create holes when you can pay with draft picks!
I agree with this. Trading Long especially would make no sense because you are screwing the new QB you just traded everything to get. As a side note, Carolina doesn't really need Long anyway. They already have Gross and Otah. Their biggest problem this year has been injuries. I do feel like they would take Wake in a second, though. They've been trying to replace Peppers since before e left because it was an inevitability.

IMO I would trade Wake and our first round pick. Before everyone goes crazy just hear me out. This January this guy will be turning 29 years old. Even though he has only been in the league for 2 years he is not a young guy we got out of college. Instead of having this guy for all of his young years and his prime we are getting his second year of his prime years and in 2 years this guy is going to want to be paid top dollars at 31 years old. I would sell high to get a franchise QB. That is just my opinion though.

This years first, third and what ever else in this draft, and next years 1 and second
