Simply unreal

From the sound of some of these posts you would think the Colts were 'Air Coryell'. They put up 9. That's pretty good.......IN BASEBALL.
BTW, the Colts won 2 games last yr because they had some clown named Curtis Painter who had no business playing in the NFL. In fact, it was coaching and FO malfeasance that permitted this joke to play the entire season.
That Colts team was in the playoffs several yrs running prior to last season, so the team wasn't as bad as people make them out to be.

If you want to see average, take a look at RGIII right now. Very very average player when you keep him from running.

Yeah that happens when you have a jacked up knee on your plant foot. Kid will not push into his throws I guarantee after Washington is eliminated this kid has some sort of surgery.

that last play says it all that knee is done!

Right. But we all understand how the league makes the proper adjustments to a running QB. We're getting a glimpse into the future when teams figure out how to keep Griffin in the pocket even when he's healthy. Then what...well, you have an average RGIII.

Luck on the other hand, look at how well he plays with little protection and rookie weapons. He has mobility and can do what he needs to do in te pocket to make plays downfield. What happens when their weapons figure it all out and you give him time to make bigger plays downfield.

Until the knee got tweaked Washington was steam rolling the Seahawks. It's not a accurate comparison because right now RGIII can't even step into his throws. That said I will take Luck all day every day over any of the rookie QBs, but if Luck had a issue with his plant knee he would be limited just the same.

I guess the only way to justify Tannehill's poor play is to try and build up the weapons around Luck. What a joke! Reality is Miami had the better weapons around Tannehill than the Colts had around Luck.

Colts skill players:

Reggie Wayne - 34 years old. Still good, but no where near the player he was 5-6 years ago. Took 194 targets (most in Wayne's career) to put up his numbers. Only caught 54.63% of passes thrown to him and had 6.95 ypa. Hartline caught 57.8% of passes thrown to him and had 8.46 ypa.
Donnie Avery - Didn't play in 2010. Played in 8 games last year making 3 catches on 11 times targeted. For his career QBs complete less than 50% of passes thrown to him.
T.Y. Hilton - ROOKIE
Dwayne Allen - ROOKIE
Coby Fleener - ROOKIE
LaVon Brazil - ROOKIE
Vick Ballare - ROOKIE

That is the talent Luck had around him this year. Five of the seven players targeted 20+ times were ROOKIES. One veteran WR who is 34 years old and another that only had 3 catches over the last "two years" and catches less than 50% of the balls thrown to him over his career. The Colts are the third team of his 4 year career for a reason.

Yet, Luck was able to take a team that was 2-14 and go 11-5. Any idea how many routes were run wrong, mis-communication, etc...Luck had to deal with playing with 5 rookies at skill positions?

The FACT is the Colts have the better QB than Miami. The argument that he had the superior weapons is just plain B.S...you wouldn't find a QB or coach in the league that would have taken the Colts weapons over Miami's this year. Tannehill may set an all-time low for QB rating if he played for the Colts this year and the Colts would most likely be in line for the #1 pick in the draft for the second year in a row.

Agree Luck likely did have to deal with miscommunications, but as a rookie all players are new to them. As far as talent at playmaking positions, I have to disagree. The Colts have FAR more talent than the Fins and it's just not that close. Very smart of that GM to add playmakers around a rookie QB. Who would have thought that would make a difference and they couldn't make due with a bunch of late round picks, FA scrubs and UDFA to throw to.

Luck was pretty special all year given the amount of passes he had to throw and hits he took. He's pretty much what most expected given he's the best prospect since Peyton. They improve that O line some and he limits those turnovers and we'll be seeing the Colts in the playoffs the next 10 years.

Get used to seeing gimpy Griffin with a bum knee. That's gonna be the story of his career.

Safe to say way more to this injury then let on with Dr. Andrews speaking out. That TD seals the game and Shanahan is to proud/foolish to put the healthy qb in look for a pick 6!

This hurts to watch. I like Griffin, he seems a good guy who has to put up with a lot of **** due to the circumstances of who he is and who he plays for, and Mike Shanahan is basically ruining his career and health.

Ouch all jokes aside that knee just got trashed! Shanahan should have say this kid at halftime!

Which is why I said he wont be what everyone is building him up to be from day 1.

Fact is, he simply isnt going to be able to run wild like that his whole career. He is either going to get injured like he is right now, be forced to run less because of the threat of injury(which happens to almost every running QB in history), or defenses will eventually figure a way to shut down his running. Once this happens its all over for RG3. He simply is not a pure pocket passer.

Eventually he is going to be asked to run less and use that skill as an occasional weapon the way Wilson, Tannehill, and other QBs with athletic ability do. Steve Young ran on critical 3rd downs when it was there. Elway would run it on you. Luck will run it on you. But, all of these guys have the ability to beat you throwing the football even when the threat of them running isnt there.

Griffin's running threat is more dangerous to defenses because he can beat you for 80 yard rushing scores. But, not today when he can barely walk. And as I type this he has fumbled again and his leg is destroyed. Play just happened. Its all over.

Lets see what he does in the future when his running is only done by necessity and not by total design. A QB in the NFL just cant carry that on for entire seasons. It just dosent work that way. Kirk Cousins is the best QB they have. What makes RG3 so explosive in the passing game right this season is the fact he could run for 80 yards on a given play. That forces defenses to honor that and makes passing the ball on them much easier. It also lead to that rookie RB having a field day because defenses had to wait and see if he took the handoff or if RG3 is keeping it.

Just watch what happens when defenses dont have to worry about if RG3 is keeping the ball after showing handoff. If he can be as effective throwing it when that happens I will be impressed.

He's been very good when healthy but that was always a big concern and why I think the Skins gave up too much. After watching him collapse on that bad snap, we may not see him until next November/December.
