Wright is on the best team in baseball and Miggy might be on the worst. Please, weak argument.

St. Louis/ChiSox/Tigers all have a better record than the Mets.

ok you get the point. WRight plays on a GREAT team. Miggy plays on a POOR team. Of course Wright will have more GW hits. Miggy;s team doesn't win too many games, fewer to no opportunities to get GW hits

Disagreee

That's fine you disagree however here are the stats of all 6 guys:

Ted Williams: 2292 games, 7706 at bats, 1798 runs, 2654 hits, 521 HR, 1839 RBI, 2021 BB, 709 K, .344 BA, .482 OBP, .634 SLG, 4884 total bases

Joe D: 1736 games, 6821 at bats, 1390 runs, 2214 hits, 361 HR, 1537 RBI, 790 BB, 269 K, .325 BA, .398 OBP, .579SLG, 3948 total bases

(Remember Joe D and Ted had their careers cut short due to WW2 where they both fought in)

Babe Ruth: 2503 games, 8398 at bats, 2175 runs, 2873 hits, 714 HR, 2217 RBI, 2062 BB, 1330 K, .342 BA, .474 OBP, .690 SLG, 5793 total bases

Willie Mays: 2992 games, 10881 at bats, 2062 runs, 3283 hits, 660 HR, 1903 RBI, 1464 BB, 1526 K, .302 BA, 384 OBP, .557 SLG, 6066 total bases

Ty Cobb: 3035 games, 11434 at bats, 2246 runs, 4189 hits, 117 HR, 1937 RBI, 1249 BB, 357 K, .366 BA, .433 OBP, .512 SLG, 5854 total bases

Tony Gywnn: 2440 games, 9288 at bats, 1383 runs, 3141 hits, 135 HR, 1138 RBI, 790 BB, 434 K, .338 BA, .388 OBP, .5459 SLG, 4259 total bases

In my opinion all 5 of them are better hitters. Especially Williams and Ruth.

but Wright also plays on a team where he is the 3rd most feared hitter. (Beltran and Delgado are going to get less pitches than Wright). Hell, even Floyd is a decent hitter at times.

[\QUOTE] Thats entirely not true...and every time a manager thought it was was they got owned. Ask joe torre and bob brenly.

Fact is wright is the best hitter on that team at this point in their careers. hes the guy with the 330 Ba, hes the guy every met fan wants up in a big spot, hes the 1 that shows power to all fields, hes the guy while he wont lead in hrs every year he still led last year in rbi,ba, obp and slg while finishing among the top 10 in the league in OPS in his 1st full season, and he is the undisputed leader on the this team and every Met fan knows it. Pedro, Delgado, Beltran etc are all strong character guys but to a large degree this team and town belong to wright and reyes.

Obviously a guy on a better team is going to have more opportunities but is anybody clutch? I thought Billy Beane disspelled the notion of any player being clutch and that more often than not they tend to hit the same in situations that would be described as clutch as they do the rest of their at bats. I think Wright will be a star if he is not already and will be one of the most feared hitters not named Pujols in the National League.

clutch in baseball is overrated.

Billy Beane isn't a baseball god. Im not as high on him as most.

if someone is going to do a crazy shift and the batter doesnt take advantage of it, then the batter isnt really a good all around hitter imo.

:shakeno:

Ted Williams will tell you the best way to beat a shift..
