Nick Saban Naming Dan Marino As One Of The Best Qbs He Has Ever Seen.

No it's not his ego, it's his age now. He's too old for that crap. Although I think he could be successful in the right organization. The right organizations are successful no matter who they bring in as head coach.

He just understands now that having success in the wrong organization has little to do with you, and everything to do with all the other hands involved in it.

Nobody succeeds in the Dolphins organization. Not Bill Parcells, or Saban or Jimmy Johnson....probably not even Vince Lombardi.

Dude, you named three guys who didn't have their heart into making the Dolphins into a winning organization.

Got to admit that line where he said Dan know he's going to win, and our guys know he is going to win, is such a great line.

Watching him from the moment he was brought in late in that unwinnible Raiders game to his last game, it seemed in most games that was the general feeling. I know even if Miami was down by 21 points, i never felt Miami was ever out of it...And far more games then not, I was right.

Check that, Saban lied to 3 different programs and has a history of telling kids they need to stay in school instead of realizing their dreams lmao, what a d***...

Plaxico Burress: "I was a 19 year old kid, the man that recruited me to play for him, look me in my face and told me a lie," was one of Burress' tweets that pretty much sums up how he feels about Saban, even after all these years."

"Now Nick Saban players are being distracted by the NFL and chasing a dream, haha tell your story Nick. LSU showed you $$, you was GONE! Ha"

And I think there is a pretty good reason he would prefer them to stay in SCHOOL for free as long as possible!!! Not a fan of his particularly, but I bet every coach has players that didnt like something said, or done. What was the lie Burress was told??

Hard to realistically argue that Saban isn't the greatest college coach of all all-time.

Not only does he have to replace a mass exodus of blue chip talent and undergrads year after year it seems he has to replace most of his coaching staff year after year as well.

All he does is win year after year.

The structure of the NFL handcuffed Saban imo. Can't just recruit unlimited talent. Limited by the draft and salary cap.

Most importantly getting an elite QB is vital to longterm excellence. Belichick's teams haven't been all that good without some guy named Brady playing QB.

I was as pissed and as hurt as anybody when Saban left. I've gotten over it. Just wish he'd have stayed and seen what he might've accomplished.

In college football you have to deal with alumni, athletic directors, university presidents, boosters, and the fanbase. You have to keep them all pleased.

In the NFL, you only have to please the owner.

Although you are correct, there's no welfare system in college football for the sake of parity. You only get the talent you and your staff get their *** out there and recruit. You have to outwork the other big fish that have the same advantages you have.

You don't have a clue what you're talking about. Anybody can get on the internet and run their mouth. It don't take much.

Yeah sounds like such fun. Time to grow up and leave college behind. He likes college because he knows he can do well there and be king of the town. If you don't see how regressive this is in terms of personal development not sure what to tell you. College was a four year experience ... not a lifetime event. That's the trouble with college sports ... people wrapped up in nostalgia for there alma mater while funding a billion dollar enterprise with no accountability to how they treat players. Of course Saban loves it.

I heard Saban talk about Marino several years ago at a clinic, he talked about facing him when he was DC in Cleveland in the early 90's. He talked about a specific technique he was trying to teach Antonio Langham and the Browns DB's in regards to how they wanted them to break on the ball...

"But that break on the ball sh^t don't work when it's Marino".....

What gets overlooked and marginalized is the rules changes of 2004....Marino’s record were on solid ground until then...

Our resident Alabama fans are like nyjunc. You mentioned Sanchez, Rex and/or Jets and there he was. You mention Tua, Saban or Alabama and here they are. And this endless stupid defending of Saban's time in the NFL especially with the Dolphins is very nyjunc-like as well.

As Dolphins fan nobody cares what he does in Alabama. His lasting memory in the NFL is not only that he is an awful NFL HC but also a sneaky lying bastard for telling not only media and fans that he had no interest to go to Alabama but also his team and employer while already having completed negotiations with Alabama to become their HC. That is highly unprofessional and even if he would be interested I doubt that any NFL owner would throw cash at him.

That part of his life of course does not diminish the fact that he is a great college coach. He does great recruiting and is a great game day coach.

There are plenty of Dolphins fans who don't give a flying **** about college football. For them the name Saban is equal to: bad coach, bad NFL talent evaluator, liar, unprofessional.

I don't know if our Alabama Crimson Tide trolls are Dolphins fans or not. But if they are they might want to take a page from the Canes fan/Dolphins fan playbook. While we love JJ as a Hurricanes coach we realized his shortcomings as a Dolphins coach (and JJ took on a much worse cap situation than Saban). His failure as a Dolphins HC does not diminish his accomplishments with the Canes and his accomplishment with the Canes does not blind us from his shortcomings as Dolphins HC.

And if you are not a Dolphins fan I have to refer to paragraph 1 in this post and I will look at you as trolls in the Main forum.

He's not despised. It's a myth.

Nobody lied to Plaxico Burress but himself. Ronnie Blackman should've stayed for his Senior year. You don't even know why Saban said that, or what point he was trying to make. Believe me, he knew Ronnie's situation much better than you do.
He is despised by everyone that is not a Bama fan ..just like the patriots are. Go to a sports bar outside of Alabama and see who people are rooting for.

They didn't change the rules in 2004, they started enforcing the no contact of WR beyond 5 yards after Patriot secondary mauled Colts receivers in AFC championship game in 2003.

Tony Dungy, then Colts coach, was on a rules subcommittee as passing was down to it's lowest YPG in 2003 since 1992. Fans do like offense.

Not to belittle your point as I'm in total agreement with you. And it's become even more so since.

According to the QB rating formula used Kirk Cousins is the 9th best QB all time and Tannehill is 28th, ahead of Marino.

What a joke!!

If memory serves me correctly, and it might not, Saban was also somewhat pu$$y whipped by his wife, a country bumpkin who was miserable living in a cosmopolitan setting in a Ft Lauderdale mansion along the beautiful Intracoastal. And that's where a lot of the 2faced pressure to quit on the team originated.
