Dolphins head executive Mike Tannenbaum said earlier this week that Campbell was studiously preparing for his interview.
“Dan is going to have his day in court. He’s been told that,” Tannenbaum said. “We wanted to give him some days so he can put his plan together in earnest. I believe that’s what he’s working on now. If you hear Metallica or there’s a lot of dipping chewed upstairs, he’s probably taking a study break right now. But I’m sure we’ll get his best efforts in the interview.”
One of Campbell’s top assistants, offensive line coach John Benton, is interviewing for the same position in Indianapolis, according to Fox Sports’ Alex Marvez.
While few insiders expect Campbell back, Benton’s interview isn’t necessarily a reflection on Campbell’s future.
Even if Campbell were to somehow stay in Miami, he’d likely overhaul the coaching staff to implement his vision of a more physical, grind-it-out team.
