Armando: Vibe is that Wallace is the target and Jennings is the fallback

Maybe you're right but I don't see enough to believe Jennings is a difference maker as a #1 receiver EVEN if he does stay healthy. I won't feel like we've addressed WR if he is all we do.

Im one of the biggest Mike Wallace supporters on the forums and I have to say that's a pretty foolish statement. Greg Jennings is more of a traditional #1 WR than Mike Wallace. As I heard someone say the other days, " he's a "surgeon" and one of those guys that can create separation on CBs in a variety of ways. He would be perfect for our WC style of offense and would surely be a upgrade over Hartline/Bess.

Mike Wallace is a completely different WR. I'm not so certain he can't be a #1 WR and I definitely don't by that he's a head case. He would add a whole different dynamic to this offense. Man want Ireland to try and hit on a unproven rookie to be that deep threat WR, not me.

Wallace is a 26 year old franchise WR. Greg Jennings is a injury prone stop gap with potential if he stays healthy. I think the difference in numbers is going to be real minor. We will need to pay top dollar and should for Wallace.

I want Mike Wallace real bad, but would not be upset with Jennings. Wallace and Patterson would be insane.

Sign both, draft Tyler Eifert, sign Anthony Spencer at DE, let Randy Starks walk and move Jared Odrick inside, sign Charles Woodson to play safety alongside Reshad Jones, draft a corner in top 3 rounds, get to the Super Bowl. Not that complicated. :brewskis:

Would be a sexy team BUT what about protecting Tannehill! We would be very identical to the Bears besides we dont have a defense like them.

Gosh this feels like one of those Scenarios were Miami is left with eggs on their faces. We get neither player!

If thats the case then we give a third for Harvins and draft a receiver in the first for sure.. Then use the rest of the money we have on filling other needs. It would suck to miss out on either Jennings or Wallace but we do have options.

Currently we have ZERO talent at Wr. Go after both, draft best o line available Or sign a guard to replace fat **** John Jerry. The defense is okay, above average playoff caliber. The offense is a joke.

Jennings should be the priority over Hartline and Wallace should be the target for an explosive offense. Jennings will cost 1.5/2mil per year more than what Hartline wants, that's a no brainer. Wallace is entering the prime years of his career, these are the must FA signings that make the long term impact.

I'd still draft Patterson 1st, Bailey late 2nd round, and Swope in the 4th to provide Tannehill with plenty of options. Trade Bess and his contract to free up more cap room, and draft another TE in the mid rounds. Surround Tannehill with weapons that can make his life easier and a vet in Jennings to provide the leadership this offense desperately needs.

After all, it's not my money!

both players would commit suicide after playing 6 games with ryan tannehill

My opinion is that the club will hype our target being Mike Wallace up through March 9th in order to bring Jennings' agent's price down as the cheaper option to consider and sign Jennings, all the while him actually being the #1 target to begin with. My opinion. ;)

The thing to keep in mind is this front office's tendency to balk at big numbers.

In off seasons past there have been guys they "like" and even ones they've made offers to, but the negotiations went nowhere because we weren't willing to offer market price.

So if you're telling me that Mike Wallace is first choice and Greg Jennings is the backup plan, I'm going to tell you that Greg Jennings is probably still the most likely guy they'll add...because this is not a front office you can trust to "get their man".

This seems debatable.

The Dolphins have used a couple of different approaches to free agency since Ireland has been onboard. Most years, they seem to bargain shop, as if they are going into it with low expectations.

However, the one offseason in past Ireland years where we did think we might have found our quarterback (2010), it seemed like Ireland took a decisively win-now approach, securing Kalos Dansby and Brandon Marshall for big dollar contracts, bringing in Mike Nolan, and throwing out the trash (Pat White, Gibril Wilson, Ted Ginn).

I would imagine, regardless of his natural inclination, that the fact that his job is probably riding on him finding some key building blocks this offseason, Ireland is more likely to be in 2010-mode.

Either way, just wanted to point out that there is precedent for Ireland to go hard after the big fish.

Different year, different circumstances.

No one knows what will happen because last year, everyone thought Ireland was going to suck, well, he didnt, if you want to be honest with yourself. Ireland has evolved since that fatazz parsells left.

I dont know about suicide, b. Hartline is going to be a rich man from having Tannehill throwing to him. Jennings doesn't seem too thrilled with a. Rodgers offense.

Am I the only would who would rather have Jennings over Wallace?

I just get the feeling Wallace will bust with his second team

No, I've wanted Jennings over Wallace since Day 1. I truly believe Jennings is more of a player for the team, and I think he would be a great leader on this team who could push Tanny.
