Ask Boomer

Hey Boomer-
Now that it looks like Alex Smith's stock has shot up pretty high, I'm curious of your opinion now weather Leinart would still be higher on most GM's boards if he had come out this year.

I know you asked boomer, but I'm pretty sure everyone here on the board, people at espn, si, and gm's in the NFL would all agree, matt would be the guy in the draft.

Hey Boomer what's up?

Just wondering, usually there are a couple of teams and sure fire picks on their behalf, any of those this year? (I.E. Thomas Davis to Saints? Travis Johnson to Bengals? Barnes to Jacksonville?)

And also, Ware has been improving his stock a lot these past few weeks and is rumored to be a sure fire top 15 pick, do you see him going before Dallas at 10 or slipping further to Houston?

Hey mate. Good first question. It's odd, not really. Usually there are more. I have two that I can think of - St Louis to take Jammal Brown at 18 and the Redskins to take Jason Campbell at 25 in the Denver slot and probably a CB in the 9 spot, that should be Carlos Rodgers.

As for ? 2. I think Dallas might take him but they really like Merriman and would take him in a shot if he were there. Houston gave up a lot for another tweener type DE/OLB last year in Jason Babin who was pretty disappointing so thehy might be wary. I will do a mock on Friday night and at this stage Alex Barron would be their pick for me.

I think Leinart would be a 49er already were he in the draft because the 49ers would have probably signed him already. The knock on effect would have been that I think Aaron Rodgers may have been valued a little lower.

In fact Rodgers MIGHT slip to the Redskins at 9 on Saturday and I suspect they would take him in a heartbeat.

Boomer, if we pick at #7 come draft day:

1) can you see Mike Williams making it there?

and

2) would we pass up on Rodgers? I think we'd probably be getting long term value with him at #7.

Fins, I think Boomer is not sold on Williams at 7, in the premium section I remember a post of his saying no to him in fact his quote was like this

Williams at #7???

Boomer: :shakeno:

Hey Boomer,
I am a very active poster on the regular threads, I never look at the stickys out of habit. I had a question...do you think Matt Jones is worthy of the #18 pick if we trade with the Vikings? Saban loves the guy and has been quoted saying "Matt Jones won more games single handedly than any player in the SEC" etc. I think the guy could be a dominant player in the NFL, you cant coach height and speed, but you can coach route running and catching..I heard Baltimore is considering him with the #22 pick, do you think hes a reach at #18 ?

I've now officially changed my mind :D I'd take him in a heartbeat at 7 and I might even take him at 2. I have pretty much finished all the tape watching and when you compare his body of work with the other players, he's still impressive as heck. Yes he has flaws, but he's a weapon and no doubt.

I would rather take Mark Clayton than someone who has some questionable work habits and last played WR properly at HS. Don't get me wrong I like him, but I'm nervous.

Zeke, I think he's doing an amazing job. NO-ONE knows what he's doing, who he's picking and where we will be Saturday night.

And I LOVE it. :cooldude:

Boomer when will we see the GURU MOCK!

I'll probably do one tomorrow, but it's ridiculous because no-one knows anything and there is so much smoke, it's sort of worthless. The mock is probably redundant at pick 1.
