Assuming Ireland and Philibin are Done, Whose Next Up?

I want a blue collar football approach. I like how the 49ers, Seahawks and Ravens (last year) played. Run the ball, set play action to an athletic TE and vertical shots down the field.

Like I said, raid the 49er's assistant coaching staff and bring in Roman. They even have a good D coordinator, too.

But also, notice what RB's are on those teams? Gore, Rice, Lynch. Do we have a comparable person on our roster like that? The answer is no. So these coaches and gm are relying not just on Tannehill to pan out, but on Lamar Miller, as well.

Generally, if you're not part of the solution you're part of the problem. What has Sherman and Philbin done, in the time they're in Miami, to be part of the solution? Really, because if anyone knows, I'd like to hear it. Maybe it would make me feel better.

I don't know anything about Roman's personality/if he has the makeup to be an NFL head coach, but I agree 100% with the approach. That's exactly the type of system I want in place. In fact, my first choice has been David Shaw, but fat chance Shaw is willing to come to Miami after the Martin fiasco (Martin, of course, played under Hamilton and Roman).

Another unlikely candidate that I'd approve is Gus Malzahn. Brilliant football mind, has the personality, and he runs the ball as well as anyone. In addition, his offense is very QB friendly, and his team is playing very physical on both sides of the ball.

But great posts.

Why would we want jay gruden??? I'd take the Seattle oc as ours but I'm not sure he can run this system and I wouldn't change it up on tannehill and set him back

Yup, Shaw's not going anywhere.

I think people are over thinking things. I STILL dont see any FO or coaches leaving

Tannehill would be money though in a pa based system...I doubt Miami will have a hard time finding suitors who want to work with this qb...should be guys jumping at it if in fact changes are made

None of us can forget Ross getting on that plane to get Harbaugh. I'll never forget one particular blog post after that got leaked: "The Goblin's on a Plane!".....lol. I think some of you know what blog that is. Anyway, it got me so excited. Ross isn't stupid and he knew what he wanted, it just didn't pan out. So, you do what you do, when you're rejected by the hot girl. You marry the safe girl, the one next door, who says they'll rub your shoulders, cook for you, and never cheat on you. Enter Joe Philbin. Made us all feel better, seemed steady as a rock, when our boat was rocking HARD. Seemed to have a plan. Then....oh well.

Speaking as a beleaguered dolphins fan, I always go with what the worst case scenario would be. My guess, therefore, is there are NO changes, leaving our team with an administration neither the players, fans, or outsiders believe in.

I never understood why Miami never totally committed to this approach. With the humidity in September and October, any team you can beat down with the run will wilt in the heat. Being a physical team also makes your game portable when going up against division foes in the winter months. Wanny and Tony went halfway to committing to such approach. Neither found a QB or felt weapons were important enough to help a team win.

I do not think Joe is committed to this approach at all as proven by decisions he has made this season. That is another issue I have with the current head man.
In the AFC East, going up against New England and New York, I agree with this approach. Miami is actually close on defense, but I don't like the finese offensive line. We need players who can open up holes in the running game. There's some talent here and overall I like Philibin, but for a guy with an offensive line background that is once again the weakness on the team. Maybe Cowher works with a solid GM. We'll see.

Its a media driven story imagine if this was some other team would you see so much coverage? i think not.

And what exacty makes Miami so special that they are receiving this attention?? This situation would be covered on any team, in any sport. Its drama that the media, and YES the fans love to read and hear about, no matter how much we bitch about it. Why do you think there are so many articles on this topic, and has crossed over to national coverage? Why do you think its such a polarizing topic with so many opinions on all sides?

Back to the topic of thread - I see so many that are on the keep Philbin, fire Ireland stance. The reality of it is, you wont have it both ways, unless you hire a GM that is willing to accept Philbin as a coach. That is very unlikely, unless you hire someone with Philbin ties and support as GM. Once you hire a GM, a new coach follows, its really that simple.

What's next is three more years of rebuilding and drafting. Losing the coaching staff will set us back another three years. Yay.
