Chris Perkins: Dolphins headed for mediocrity in 2025 before 2026 rebuild

Dude, its not a coincidence that Chris Grier has been here THE ENTIRE TIME we havent had a playoff game. He is the only person in the front office that has been here LITERALLY for a QUARTER OF A CENTURY. Hes been here longer, than Stephen Ross has been owner.

Yes, weve had bad GMs during that time, mainly Spielman, Ireland, and TanneBUM ... but Grier has been with ALL OF THEM. Even more insulting, is that his "GM tenure" ALONE has lasted longer than any of theirs, and he hasnt accomplished ANYTHING! Grier absolutely deserves a good brunt of the blame because he's been here the ENTIRE TIME ... hes THE ONLY ONE who has been here the entire time we havent won a playoff game, and while everyone has come and gone, HE HAS STAYED! Its not hard to understand.
Well, I’m glad you brought it up, because it is most definitely a coincidence. The last 9-10 years haven’t been.. but when he was fetching coffee and making copies I promise you the Dolphins didn’t win a playoff game because of that.

He actually does deserve some blame for his "pre-GM years". I worked as a scout for 2 years & worked in a personnel department for another year (at a college, not pro), before I moved on to sports videography. I know how it goes. During Grier's "pre-GM years" from 2001-2015 ... what "great" talent did he recommend that we bring in?

The only fair thing to say about Grier during those years, is that yes, the final decisions to choose (or not choose said players) wasn't up to him ... it was to whatever GM he was working under. But based on the history of the Dolphins over the last 25 years, and especially now looking at his 9 FAILED GM years currently, do I or any Dolphins fan have any reason to believe that he was doing a good job back during those years ... years where maybe, he was doing such an awful job judging talents, that maybe, JUST MAYBE, he had a hand in getting Spielman, Hickey, Ireland, & TanneBUM all fired before he took over?

Think about it. Think LONG and HARD about it. He ****ing SUCKS at his job ... and Im counting ALL his years ... and I guarantee, when he is fired from Miami finally, and hes looking for another front office job, teams wont be looking at "just his GM years". They will be looking at ALL HIS YEARS in Miami ... as they should.

You keep saying these things. Do you blame every scout over the last 25 years? Every intern?

Again, I agree that he needs to go. And I agree that over the past 9-10 years he’s been a MAJOR reason, the #1 reason for the Dolphins failures.

They certainly deserve some blame, because they make the recommendations on what talent to go after, after they make they judgements & analysis' ... the final decisions come from the GM based on THEIR recommendations. GMs obviously will get the most blame for the decisions they make (good or bad) ... but scouts are certainly culpable to, to a certain extent.

YEEESSS!! You’re finally there. “The final decisions come from the GM.”

When I was a LCpl and gave my Sgt some advice it was 100% his call what to do. If he took my advice, and it failed, he paid the price and took the blame.

Sometimes my dog thinks it would be great to jump in the creek behind my house after a heavy rain. I don’t let him off the leash and jump in. If I did let him jump in, and he drowned, I would get the blame. And rightfully so.

Grier is no more to blame for the Dolphins woes before he was GM than my dog would be if I let him jump in the creek.

Look, I dont want to continue this pissing contest ... but just know, I DO see what youre saying. Youre right Grier desevres MASSIVE blame for the last 9 yrs. We agree there.

But he is certainly culpable "TO AN EXTENT" for the previous 15 yrs he's been in this front office. Again ... 24 years since our last playoff win, "concurrent" with Grier's entire 24 year tenure in the Phins front office. Again, its not hard to understand ... hes the ONLY ONE in the organization that can say that.

Whether you fault him or not, for just 10 yrs or all 24 hes been here for (I choose all 24) ... hes been the biggest **** STAIN in this organization during this entire drought, and Miami wont begin "healing" until he is finally shown the door.

McDaniel is going to keep digging that hole even deeper for him and Chris Grier if the team isn't successful in 2025. Do we want to strive to be like the current Chiefs & Eagles franchises or more like the Marvin Lewis era Bengals? Do we want to set the goal to win Super Bowls or be satisfied with just making the playoffs when almost 44% of the teams in the league do.

How much is he paying you for "digging" lessons? - LOL

By the way, your attempt to "move the goal posts" has just failed miserably. - LOL

Great response, but I fear it may be "over the head" of those who would benefit most from understanding it. - LOL

There is a lot here in your last paragraph that will appeal to brother @circumstances 🤣

If Grier is removed as GM, he will likely be “promoted” to another position within Ross’ organization.

I’ve been a fan since 1979 when I was 5. I’ve seen 2 SB losses and Marino waste his talents because we couldn’t give him a defense or running game.

I’m still optimistic every offseason. The moment that ends is the moment I stop following the NFL.
No surprise your not smart enough to recognize reality.

So do you blame the scouts we have now? Do you blame the GM’s before Grier? What about all the scouts over the last 25 years? Do you blame the lunch lady and janitors? Some of them have been around for years and years.

Ohhh… I know! Do you blame Ray Finkle? Lmaooo

Do you even know what you’re talking about or are you just handwringing and throwing a temper tantrum?
Dumb

Move what goal posts? I have not wavered from my opinion that if the Dolphins don't at least win a playoff game this season then Grier, McDaniel & Tua should be gone in 2026. Grier has hired 3 head coaches during his time as GM & none of them have been able to win a single playoff game. McDaniel & Tua should be joined at the hip with Grier because if you want to have an extensive GM search you can't put a stipulation on candidates that they must keep the head coach and QB. As I have stated many times, if 2025 is a failure (no playoff win) then 2026 should be a reset year with a new GM & head coach aiming to draft a QB at the top of the 2027 draft.

Just because you are satisfied with mediocrity with the only hope being to see the team sneaking into the playoffs every year, doesn't mean other fans aren't striving for much more.

How can a new HC win a playoff game in 3 years? You realize that the HC’s that have accomplished this are in the minority, right? And a lot that lasted more than 3 years tend to be great. Look up the history of some of you r favorite HC’s.
