dave hyde seems to understand what so many people on here do not

we would not have even smelled the playoffs with 18 interceptions last year. oh and we played the arizona cardinals last season, not the phoenix cardinals.

You can't look at it in a vacuum though. If they swapped positions I would guess that Cutlers INT's would go down and Pennington's would go up. Cutler was asked to carry the team while Pennington was asked to play conservatively. Miami was 9th in defense and Denver was 30th. That matters.

They had to ask Pennington to play the way he always plays?

see with me... i think maybe is that im hesitant to trade for other peoples QB. It was so many years that we took other people signal callers with AJ, Dante, Fiedler and Lemon. So now that we Drafted Henne last year i want him so bad to succeed and the kid is a fighter. I just want a QB that i could say was home grown.. hes a DOLPHIN!!!! Cutler is extremely talented but i dont like his attitute. I still might want to trade for him but theres no way im going to help the broncos out with the 25th and both chads... thats just ridiculous.

I doubt our front office is even thinking about this trade. Tony has said many times how happy he is with Pennington as a leader in the locker room and how much he has helped change the culture of this team.

Pennington is also a role model for Henne, he is teaching him how to practice and prepare for NFL games. Brandon London recently stated in an online chat that Henne is at all of the special meetings Penningtons has with all of the offensive position groups and that he is really maturing as a player. Henne may not have been the lockerroom leader in Michigan, but he is learning how to do it from Pennington.

On a side note I remember how many of you were complaining Pennington was cheated out of the pro-bowl last year and how Cutler didn't deserve to go. Now it seems the grass is greener on the other side of the fence, why the change of heart?

I say stick with our own guys who are committed to making this team better, and not worry about the pre-midonnas who only worry about their feelings and ego being hurt, which is why Denver is in this predicament in the first place.

They are a lot of good points being made on both sides of the fence. I am not sure if I would want Cutler or not but it doesent hurt to kick the tires. The front office will decide for us all and I will eave it up to them.

It is all what the front office thinks of Chad Henne compared to Cutler our opinions mean sqat. Yes we have seen Cutler but not Henne. So we shall see

We should make the call to see what it would take to acquire him then hang up. Cutler's handling of this situation IMO doesn't bode well for his leadership abilities and shows a chink in his character.

From what I've heard and read....the coach has made it more than clear he wants to bring in his own guy. Cutler tried to overlook everything after he heard that they tried to trade him and it fell through. The meeting with the new coach after, more than led him to believe he wasn't wanted. Tough to fault Cutler.

It just seems like some of you have started to panic because everyone in the division has gone after high profile free agents while Miami has signed steady players that fill needs, but are relying on the draft to produce their superstars. As a result, a sort of "keep up with the Joneses" mentality has settled in on this board.

I'll ask two questions of the people willing to trade two qbs and a draft pick for a player who's good, but has some question marks as well.

a.) What if Chad Henne goes on to be a superstar in this league? Would you really be comfortable watching Henne win Super Bowls knowing that we just handed him away without seeing what he's got?

b.) An even worse scenario has come to mind. What if Jay Cutler regresses and is a total flop in Miami? Don't say that it can't happen because we've seen seemingly great players in this league fizzle out for a variety of reasons. If that happens then we would have given up Pennington and Henne . In return we'll be escorted to the AFC East cellar once again.

No thanks, I'll take my chances with the guys we've got in house, Pass on Cutler.

Penny has the ability to be more consistant, but Cutler can take you all the way.

And this is proven where? When has Jay Cutler ever taken any team all the way? I'm sorry, I'm not saying the kid isn't talented but some of you act like he's Marino and Montana combined. To give up 2 players and a draft pick based on a player's potential to win championships is...well, that's just not smart.

how is looking for a young upgrade at qb panicking??? i can only hope this regime isn't so bull headed that they would just disregard any potential upgrade cause it wasn't someone they hand picked in the first place.

I
And you know what? Jeff Ireland himself said that he is sure that Chad Henne is a successful draft pick. In an interview, that is what he said. He singled out Jake Long and Chad Henne, if I'm not mistaken (I believe it was just those two, not anyone else). He was asked something about evaluating his draft success and he said that you need a good three years to evaluate a draft, so they'll talk after three years, however what he can say this early is that he is sure that Jake Long and Chad Henne are successful draft picks. Jake Long, of course, was the #1 overall pick and was having himself a Pro Bowl season. So, I account it no sin that he tallied up some early returns on Jake Long. But, Chad Henne? Not Kendall Langford, not Phil Merling...not Donald Thomas...Chad Henne. A late second round pick, that had thrown all of 12 passes during the season. And Ireland, Parcells, etc...are already sure that he is a successful draft pick, that as Ireland says, in a few years he doesn't know exactly when because of how well Pennington is playing, we will look on Chad Henne and he will be a successful starting quarterback. Very strong words.

You're kidding me right? So just because Ireland said Henne is going to be a good QB in the future you are convinced that is true? You know how many coaches and GM's over the years have said that samething and it ended up being false? Probably 90% of the time.

The only facts or truths to any of this is Penny is getting old and Cutler is a pro bowl QB. Who the hell knows how Henne turns out. If I had to guess based on his college days he will be a middle of the road QB, with limited accuracy and many INT's. Just my opinion.

If all the Fins had to do is package Penny (getting old, prone to injury), Henne (2nd round pick, hasnt done anything yet) and the 2nd round pick, I would do it in a heartbeat. At least with Cutler you know your getting a young, stong armed QB that has proven he can play. The only thing you're really giving up is 2nd round pick. Cutler is only 25 and my guess is Henne isnt going to be better than him.

No it's not. Granted Josh McDaniels should not have lied to Cutler about wanting to trade him but right now Cutler is acting like a primadona.

No, the coach has made it clear that cutler wsa not his guy, and he would trade him when an opportunity comes to bring someone he wants in. That is far from working with Cutler.

He made it clear Cutler isnt wanted, Cutler is asking for a trade. How is that being a primadonna? There are plenty of teams that are interested, why wouldn't he want to go somewhere where they feel he is the QB for them?
