Would anyone like to try to dispute this post? I mean i would love to see someone try. I don't think it is humanly possible to disagree with that reasoning. Is the thread over now?

the Vikings, Cardinals and Titans logos curve against the helmet curve and they seem ok to me

Yes but I was never a huge fan of the '97 redesign. When I look at both logos side by side there's no question I think the new one looks better.

That said, I don't necessarily buy the "people will start to like it" argument. I think people will start to tolerate it, because it's not a bad logo (you might not like it, but it's technically competent and pretty inoffensive), which is fine enough, I suppose.

whats sad is I know they spent time and money and thats the best they came up with really lol.

The logo has grown on me a little, but I really wish the tail went downwards, don't like the floaty motion. I've heard a lot of the whale comments too.

Doesn't matter as long as the product is great. Was wondering if they already made wallace jerseys in the old style? May buy a bunch of dolphins stuff that will go on sale with the "old" logo

Same here man. If the tail went downwards, wow would it look amazing imo.

It's all an artistic opinion anyways, I don't know why all the fire towards the ''whale-seers.''
I see the ''spirit'' of a whale when I look at this logo. This is not about Animal Planet to all the people talking down to us like ''we have never seen a whale before.''
It's about character and spirit of the animal.

Now obviously everybody has an opinion as is their right. This is just an art piece, so I'm not interested in arguing with anybody, as there is no right or wrong opinion.
The fact is, there are a lot of people who see this as a whale, figuratively, and we are not all morons/ignorant/or whatever....I'm just starting to get a little irked because imo the fire being thrown at the ''whale'' people is getting out of hand.
People need to chill out a bit.

That being said, I wanted an updated logo and completely revamped uniforms. Getting a logo ''right'' is not an easy thing to do imo. If they had this ''leaked'' logo with the tail turned down, revolutionize with the same spirit of the animal, they would have completely nailed it.
As it is, whenever I see this logo, especially far away, I see a whale. After a few seconds then the dolphin appears.
I'm starting to become more indifferent now towards the logo, instead of the initial hatred. That will probably get better with time too.
For me, the saving grace will be the uniforms, I'm pretty confident they will kick ass. And I can't wait to see them.

Bottom line, we all are on the same side here, it's Our team. If somebody see's a whale, why attack the dude?
There's no right or wrong answer here. No need for the holier than thou '' you are a dumbass that has never seen a whale'' remarks.

This is a pretty crazy time in our franchise if you think about it. Logo, uniforms, and most importantly our big offseason.....if there must be attacks, at least keep them funny, and not personal.
Thank you, have a good night Everyone.

The upward tail is unnatural i only see dolphins do this on land when they are begging for a fish at seaworld.

If you look at all the helmets of teams where the logo has a "curvature" to it, INCLUDING OUR PRESENT ONE, the logo follows the curve of the round helmet. (Redskins, Lions, Chargers, best examples of this)

The upturned tail DEFIES and CLASHES WITH the curvature of the helmet. It looks WRONG and looks worst on the left side of the helmet (facing left). My Photoshop mockups look stupid from that side. Angling the dolphin upward helps (making the front part of body match the present orientation), but not enough.

Turn the tail down and it's FINE, but this iteration STINKS and I profoundly dislike it.

I think you nailed it, perhaps the best summary I've seen. I tried to make that point a couple of times recently, but not as well, that the angles are critical and we butchered some basic concepts along with common sense.

It's the NFL's first Motion Sickness Logo.

We're pioneers.

In another thread, someone said it's like something he'd expect from a cruise ship firm...safe and corporate. I think that's accurate also.

My perspective is not going to change: As long as we're playing in this stadium I'm going to handicap the people in highest positions as less than top notch, and therefore hefty favorites to butcher the major decisions. Mike Dee said he was surprised at the opposition to Gator Day, "because the teams don't play every year." Unbelievable. Do I need to watch every play with a guy like that? He's already defined his caliber. The best you can hope for is a 7-9 logo, and a brutal process along the way. I'm always amazed at the posts here from very sharp guys who feel a need to look at every play to evaluate a prospect.

Taking into account solely the aesthetics of the logo and not the fact that a team has a ton of history making an otherwise crappy logo iconic in some people's minds our new logo is clearly better than:

1. Chicago
2. Buffalo
3. Cleveland
4. Arizona
5. Indianapolis
6. Washington
7. Philadelphia
8. Atlanta
9. Tennessee
10. Minnesota
11. Detroit
12. Green Bay
13. St. Louis
14. Seattle
15. Pittsburgh

Those are just the one it is clearly more aesthetic than. Many of the remainder are debatable.

Please list me the logos OUR new logo is better than? I'd love to see this list, and I'm sure most of you homers will start off with New England, Buffalo and New York.

Nice argument there. *claps*

You have nothing to list, you just get on your knees over everything Dolphins. Cool. I'm neutral and you aren't.

The logo looks OK at larger sizes when you can see the detail, but at small sizes it looks awful. A good logo should look good at all sizes.

You're onto something there. And it's been one of my beefs with all the graphic design specialists who have commented in these threads, on various sites. They fixate on minute detail. But that's not how the logo will be viewed and evaluated by the public. It's an overall impression. And generally from a distance. Our rounded dolphin held up well from the upper deck. When they filled in the gaps in '97 and darkened everything quite a bit, it worked even better from afar.

This dolphin is indeed going to resemble a squirt of toothpaste.

When somebody put all of our logos side by side recently, the aspect that jumped out at me was the new one looked like it was far away while the others were being viewed from a zoom lens.

We didn't take perspective into account.

Not a big fan of it personally. Kind of looks like a logo you'd see on an NFL wanna-be video game. Nice effort though Glad

I will not buy ANY new Miami Dolphin merchandise with the new logo.

The new logo is a sissy looking, horribly designed, junk in my opinion. I am VERY disappointed in how anyone could have liked and signed off on it.

Just look at most of the polls. There were MUCH, MUCH better designs we could have chosen other than the junk the team will now be wearing.
