I am losing more faith in this regime every day ...

don't trade a pick for steve slaton...you can wait til final cuts and scoop him up then for no compensation

WTF? The team has its STARTERS. What are you not understanding? None of the examples you listed are guys who were signed to BE 3rd stringers (except for Sproles, but he has a different kind of role). Bush was not in NO's plans and he was brought here to be a STARTER. I just don't see the point in trading for a THIRD STRING RB who will BE a THIRD STRING RB on this team as well..

Whoa! You mean that teams can trade away players that used to be THIRD STRINGERS and make them starters!?!?! Imagine that!
So whats your objection to Steve Slation(former starter who is no longer in the Texans plans) again?

See, other football teams in the NFL take every single opportunity to improve their team. They take young prospects with hopes that they develop into productive players. As they are not highly talented, but still quite useful, those players can take time to develop and in the mean time can contribute in many different ways. If they contribute immediately, then the coach and general manager give each other thumbs up and its an even better situation then most thought, as they then move up the depth chart(in many cases, from third string to second or first string). Even if they have not moved up the depth chart, they are nice in case of injury to the starters. By having these developed and developing players on your roster, you can use them in games. If you have better execution from your players then the other teams players, then you have a much better chance of winning said games. The more talented players you have contributing, the more chances you have of obtaining the execution that wins games. If you win enough games, you can move onto the finals, or playoffs, and have a chance to win a shinny trophy.

Our football team, on the other hand, doesnt seem to have the desire to bring in young, potentially talented players, and instead drools at over the hill veterans who threaten women and curse out fans using gay slurs. By being older, they do not have as much of a chance to continue developing into productive players and in many cases are no longer able to compete at adequate levels. Of course, this is ignoring our big brother of a commissioner who bans players who threaten women, therefore leaving us with a gaping hole on our roster and our teams wallet a bit lighter.

Hope this clears things up.

What a dumb thread. He's losing faith because we signed Lj and didn't keep ronnie..I think Lj has more left in the tank than him anyway..I like the signing, nice veteran depth

The problem with this whole argument is the way some members on this board percieve things.

Example.

Take player A. New England signs him and it was a great move in the minds of a lot people in here.

Take player A. Miami signs him and it is a move that further indicates why this FO needs to back their bags.

I know a lot of arguments will be made against this but it is TRUE. Some people in here are so blinded by their frustration/hate/unclear perception of the game and reality that they are inclined to gripe about everything.

It is sad that we are even talking about this signing more than 1 thread and 1 page but we are. Why? Because it is crap like this that pits the two prevailing thoughts in here against each other.

Homer see it- LJ= 4-5 RB competition Sheets was crap next guy in.

Downers see it- DT is a bust, Bush can't carry the ball more than 10xs. LJ really our new #1? ****!!!

There is so much BS in this post. Really? This regime doesn't give a shot to young, hungry unknown guys??

Hmmm... that must be news to Davone Bess, Cameron Wake, Tony McDaniel, Roberto Wallace, Marlon Moore, Nate Ness, and heck, even REGGIE BUSH, who as you mentioned was tossed aside in New Orleans. They are doing with Bush exactly what you want done with Slaton. They are giving a guy who has proven to be talented a chance to reinvent himself in Miami.

The fact that you are making a huge stink about the team cutting Kory Sheets (who wasn't performing) to sign a former pro bowler to see if there is any tread left on those tires just shows your bias.

yeah thats it...you're biased because you think a rb who's in his 30's and hasn't helped anyone in 2 years is a bad idea...

some of you guys should have to stand in the corner

i don't care what its for...if he makes the 53 its flat out terrible...i don't want to waste a roster spot on some guy who can't help me...and this is the definition of such a guy

tiki portis lj...all done

If people want to preceive my argument against a gun trotting nutjob who barely has the legs to get off the couch to find his phone to order a pizza as something about New England(who i never once mentioned but people keep bringing it up) then thats on the individual.

Had we signed a young player, or another teams talented player that got buried, you wouldnt have to quote me as im sure others would also be praising it.
Many see it as simply a name that will probably not make the roster. Others, myself included, see it as a complete waste of time, money, and a roster spot that could be better saved for talent that could be developed into a productive player.

I dont really care too much FOR the signing, but I also dont care too much ABOUT the signing either. Its basically a tryout for the guy..Im not in a position to say whether this guy came into the facility in great shape or not so I will reserve judgement until I see him. I dont have a problem with people not liking the signing because of his age/recent production or whatever..that is understandable. However, lets give the guy a chance before we decide our FO is the worst in the world. If he fails, it means nothing..if hes in great shape, maybe we can get a productive goal line back or something.

If they have developed it in the past, great! Why dont they do it again? Whats the down side?

So first your argument was "hes a mentor!". Then its "its just a third string spot, who cares!". Then its "third stringers dont matter unless they are named Reggie Bush or anyone else i might have forgotten that we have signed or could trade for!". Now its "Hes trying to reinvent himself like Prince did!". And im the one that has blind bias. Right.

meh. he's got one preseason game to show he can be a roleplayer. he won't make the final 53, the fourth running back spot is either grigsby or some guy who's on another team right now.

My argument is that this is an inconsequential signing that at the very least could provide some valuable guidance to speed up Daniel Thomas' progression. That has always been my stance. The fact that there is so much outrage over an inconsequential signing is, quite frankly, perplexing to me...
