''I don't believe in throwing the ball. We have to run the ball to win.''

Find me a link where he said they would have the best passing game in the league. He never said that.

That and 2 1000 yd rushers......HOF QB, HOF WR, HOF FB, HOF Guard, HOF center...... They had FIVE HOF players on the offense. Sure, it was just the defense.....
Now you ask for a link because you saw my point. He said it last year when Norv was here. Go look for it in the official board. I even made fun of it here on FH . You probably weren't posting here then. Just like you were able to find the Marv Levy retiring story , go find it yourself.

He said they would be the best RUNNING team in the league.

Nope, that was a given. He made a bold statement which caught my attention. I would never make fun of that especially since RW was the best rb the year before.

Here is a quote from Joe Shad's blog:

I do recall a promise he made last season that Dolphins would lead the league in rushing in the second half of the season.

Here is the link

Here is another quote about it:

RB Ricky Williams (Mia) will explode over the rest of the NFL season according to HC Dave Wannstedt. Coach Wannstedt says the Dolphins "will lead the league in rushing the second half of the season. You watch and see." This is the second straight day of big talk from the Miami running game. It would be nice to see them back it up this weekend.

I may be new to the board, but I am extremely curious as to why nobody has asked for a link or proof of this post. I listened to a couple of Wanny's press conferences and did not hear this comment. Could someone please direct me to where this was found? Call me crazy, but this seems like bs.

That is a quote from Schad. How can you validate something Schad said as a Wanny quote. "I do recall a promise he made last season..." Come on...do you have a direct quote from Wanny?

I may be, but I don't believe everything I read in the papers. I have listened to the post game press conferences, and this was never said by Wanny. This article has been quoted in this thread three times, and it seems to me that Armando Salguero is merely a hack looking for a story. Don't get me wrong I am not a Wannstedt fanboy, by any means. I just want the facts and I believe that you may be taking this article way too seriously.

As it should be, the greenbay game was the perfect example vs the panthers.

that worked cus they have Favre. did the panthers ever stack 8+man in the box?

our problems has always been the QB consitency. i can understand why Wanny wanting to run 1st but every team we play will stack 8+ man in the box to stop the run. it worked last yr for teams playing against us & i dont see teams changing that until we can pass.

pass sets up the run or run sets up the play action or vica versa.

our problem is we cant pass (cough JF). hopefully Wanny will let our OC call the play he wants to & not over rule him & run the daym ball like Wanny did with Norv.

what i dont understand is why Wanny keeps on saying we have a better chance at winning by running the ball. hmmm. reality check here. how u gonna run with 8+ man in the box. look what happened last yr. not only did we not make the play-offs again but we lost a very good RB (yeah i kno he has probs).

i understand our OL hasnt gelled together yet but there is no way we can run if there are 8+ man in the box even with an OL that is good or above.

with our current situation im glad we have AJ. a guy who can pass with zip & better accuracy than JF. we need consistency & become a more balanced team overall.

So how do you glean the facts? I went to a world respected newspaper that covers the dolphins daily, Quoted a long-time writer who I would think if he was prone to making up quotes would not be covering them for long and then at your request posted the link. I think you may not be taking it seriously enough. The head coach of your favorite team stated these things and I posted them to get others opinions. For the second time in this one thread I will state that I am not and have not ever knocked Wanny. I just wanted to get the forums members opionions on his statements. Some agree some do not and thats fine, But i would be the crazy one if I took your word over Armando. Can you honestly say you have heard every second of every press conference since saturday?

sorry, I'm not registered

How convenient for you.....

Here is the relevant DIRECT QUOTE:

''We will lead the league in rushing the second half of the season,'' he said Friday. ``You watch and see.''

Here is another paragraph:
''If you had asked me before the season about the offense, I would have thought the running game was going to be there,'' Wannstedt said. ``I would have said the passing game should be better because we're in the second year under [offensive coordinator] Norv [Turner], but I wouldn't have promised it was going to be great.

What is your story now?

i think the play calling will be more even than most think. he's justy saying that to throw off the bengals coaching staff. we're gonig to come out like the pats did with an empty backfield and aj is going to go 6 for 6 on his way to his first TD of the night (a CC 26 yarder)...I SEE THE FUTURE (and dead people)

then Wanny calling Parcells was to throw off everyone else?
