Hall Of Famer
Why does it matter even if Channing Crowder is a Rick Spielman prospect? I only care about how Crowder can perform regardless of who scouted him. As long as Spielman's not giving away 2nd round picks for 3rd string QB's, it doesn't matter to me. If Saban disagrees with him or thinks differently he's going to do what he thinks is best for the team, not Spielman. Besides the guy obviously has to be professionally qualified if he's a GM, we've seen his blunders, if he did scout Crowder maybe he's a real winner. I'm not going be fickle like some people and all of sudden be against Crowder because Spielman supposedly scouted him. The man has some good moves and he has some bad moves. It's a hit or miss situation. One thing I'm pretty sure of, whether Saban was interested or not he didn't count on getting Crowder in the 3rd. I haven't heard one person or draft analyst prior to the draft mention us getting Crowder or saying Crowder would fall to the 3rd. I'm thinking Saban got him because he was literally the best player available and obviously thought he'd be a great fit to our team and our linebacking core. I personally think it was a good pick.
