Jonnu Smith not at mandatory minicamp

That is a separate issue. The NFL is generally heading to more and more contract disputes and I have zero sympathy for a player who signs a new deal and then 2 or 3 years later is seeking a brand new deal. They can **** off. Part of team management is trying to navigate the salary cap and allowing the team to grow.

Now as to team culture, it starts at the top and the owner allows it to happen, clean house from the top down or you'll have the same product year in and year out, this year will be no different.
You also have to hold owners accountable for giving players contracts them cutting or trading them before contract is up. It can't be just one way

True, but also if a player is not living up to the contract then you move on from them. It is different for a player who has been at best average his whole career and the has one good year to now think he deserves a pay raise. That is BS!

If I take a new job, work for two years and ask the owner for a higher salary by 100 to 200% with the same or less work guess who's gonna have to move on, that's right me. My point here is, these players want turnover in their contracts prior to fulfilling the contracts.

So you are absolutely right, there needs to be a shift away from "guaranteed" money and all the owners need to do it.

"Unlike the previous offseason workouts, minicamps are mandatory, and players are subject to fines for each day they are absent. Missing Day 1 calls for a fine of $17,462. Day 2: $34,925. Day 3: $52,381. The three-day total comes out to $104,768 in potential penalties. Unlike training camp, fines for missing minicamp remain waivable"

Note the last two words.

With a better o-line, hopefully we can run the ball and play action pass better...this may eliminate the need for our TE to get 900 yards/year. So it may be best to let Jonnu walk - he can get paid elsewhere.
  • Run the ball.
  • Throw to Achane & Wright out of the backfield.
  • Throw deep once they stuff the box.
  • Play defense (get turnovers).
  • Go 1-1 with the Bills.
  • Snag a wildcard berth and win one for once.

Not sure what he can be suspended from at this point
Probably true, but I'm certain after fining him and sending him the 10 day letter at training camp will either solve the problem or force him to do something that we can suspend him for :) 😁

I’m really excited about the way we’re handling this situation with Jonnu Smith.

Just kidding.

Keep him here for all of camp to keep fining him, then trade him.

Instead the Dolphins will likely waive all of his fines after they find a solution. That would be my bet.

Soft.

Surprised this wasn’t worked out before the draft.

Wonder if the Dolphins are willing to amend his contract but wanted the holdout as top cover to “force” the rework, or Grier terrible misread the holdout and situation imo.
