Lazor using Egnew as a WR more

Wow..looking at those pictures of him, he has no strength in his lower body. He is not a TE. He is an over sized WR. Wasted pick. Move on.

Maybe Egnew should lose some weight, and be more like a Brandon Marshall type WR.

I still remember these comments..

Because Egnew is high-cut, with long legs, he might always struggle to anchor & block inline, against 300 lb defensive linemen..

In contrast, you look at blocking tight ends like Anthony Fasano and Arthur Lynch, and you can see that their legs are stockier, and probably better suited at anchoring against big defenders.

Built way different than Fasano, and shouldn't have been attempted to be turned into a Fasano-type TE. He came from a spread offense in college and caught passes, that's all. Hopefully Lazor can do something with him and use his strengths. He hasn't been cut by now, which means he brings something to the table.

Engew came with the same draft class as Tannehill, Jon Martin and Lamar Miller. Philbin said he wanted a no-huddle, fast, dynamic, spread offense, and therefore our scouts found a finesse ZBS O Lineman, a finesse RB, and a hybrid pass-catching TE.

If Lazor can take our roster, and get the most out of every player, and make this work, then I say give him the keys to the kingdom.

Hindsight is always 20/20. Egnew right now seems like a bad pick, but as we've seen on HK, Sherman was a bad prick!

So between browbeating someone who might not rise to the occasion of tough love, the OCs overall "vision," and Ireland's "I'm smarter than everyone else, so utilize him" presence, given where he was drafted and his measurables, Egnew at the least deserves a fair shake through TC. If Lazor can salvage him, then wow, imagine what he can do with our other under-deployed offensive weapons.

Those of you thinking Lynch is on the bubble aren't familiar enough with Lazor's offense. Lynch is the Swiss army knife sryle TE that Lazor likes.

Lynch is already the best combo of run blocking, pass protection, blitz pick up, presenting a big target, settling into th soft spots in zones and running proper routes. That is the Swiss army knife.

He certainly isn't the best at each of those, but collectively he is that versatile weapon that allows the OC to be very unpredictable and take advantage of mismatches. Because, no matter what is needed the OC has swiss army knife TE that can set it up.

The TE is THE position that enables mismatches. That's what Lazor is all about ... and Sims isn't very good. Clay is one dimensional.

Clay and Lynch are the only 2 TE's who are assured a roster spot.

Sent from my phone, so please forgive any typos.

You can throw me on that lists of those who look at Egnew as nothing more then dumpster juice...

Agree. It fascinates me to see "Phans" posting that our players suck and are garbage, when they are doing their best to help our team. I do fully understand criticizing players with specific reasons. However, I believe that many here post their one liners of sucking and hot garbage with no idea why, other than maybe seeing someone else has done it.

Anyone know that Egnew was our best blocking TE last year, and caught 7 of 10 passes thrown? He still was not good but, not all that bad.

Kinda sad for a "Phan." JMO
