MERGED: A.J vs. Losman

Here you go. Too bad the link no longer works but in a nutshell. JP got his teamates to rally behind him to save the football program of Tulane which he successfully did. Where you get that alienating thing is no where to be found. This guy was both a finfan and a tulane student who hated the fact that we ended up w/ losman.

Well I found one, and during the draft, there seemed to be the common thought on Losman, great tools, good head, brash/****y attitude.

I'm still waiting for your source that says JP will alienate his teammates. You're the only one who has that opinion. ;)

So for a second straight season, Green Bay coach Mike Sherman is scrutinizing a first-round prospect who, if selected, would be the Packers’ future but of little or no help in the present. There’s much to like about Losman, who has a major-league arm, mobility superior to Favre in his prime, and a ****-sure and competitive temperament. The question is whether all that overrides concerns about his throwing accuracy and, more importantly, a brash personality that could rub teammates the wrong way.

I have to admit, there is no longer as many articles talking about his personality problem, but Luckily I found 1.
One? It also says "could" but there had been no history that he has alienated teamates in the past.

Compared to the many links I provided you chosee the 1 that talks about A negative?

At least you've proven yourself to be a finfan more than Feeley has proven himself to be an average qb.

AJ showed a flash of potential during one game, and in one fourth quarter. I was just as happy as any good Phin fan that we beat NE that night and I share your hope that he turns into a good/consistent QB one day...

However, I, like many, believe that we won those few other games in spite of him...there were too many occassions last year when his poor decisions contributed (heavily) to our losses. He made many many more mistakes than good decisions (stats proved it: 11 TD's and 15 INT's). Those reasons and the fact that Losman is younger, more athletic, and comes with a better college resume, make me think that he's a better prospect at this moment.

Still, this is just a guess. You said it right when you said that both of them need to prove themselves. I could easily be wrong...something I hope. :)

He does have a big problem with reading Offenses, unfortunately he was not going to learn anything last year with our rookie O-coordinator.

If you look at how he did after Bates took over, you will see that his worse game was against the Bills, and if he had had even a little running game, with the way he performed in most of the 1st half, it could have just as easily ended up being one of his bet games.

I will agree that no game did he show anyone that he was a quality starter, and with his 2 bad decision throws a game, it did very little to help his cause as a manageable QB. But if you watch any of the games with bates as HC, you will see him make a good amount of nice throws, injured, no running game, and no O-line to help him....and on the sideline, and O-coordinator even more lost then him. NOBODY is going to look good in those situations.

Maybe it's just me, seeing more then there is, but I like his toughness, how he hangs in there when the world is falling apart around him, and his arm is more then good enough to get the job done.

Why do you think he changed colleges? He was a bit abrasive, and like that one article, there were tons before the draft. The alienating your team is only to get you worked up, which obviously I did, but as I said, there is nothing after the draft, so what was written about him might have been mostly writers taking a few incidents, and making the guy look 10 times worse then he was. Cross you fingers and hope it is not as bad as it was wrtten. ;)

You do seem pretty worked up though. I proved to you that there were such articles.:D

Why do you think he changed colleges?

Seeing as you know nothing I will answer this for you. He changed his mind from UCLA to Tulane because he felt he would have a bigger opportunity to play there and start.

If he is alienating the team why has everyone from coaches to teammated given him nothing but praise this offseason?

Only Spielman thought highly enough of AJ to be a starter. He was a 3rd string qb w/ the eagles that was put in the starting position by someone who paid too much for him. That guy is now gone. He played last year like a 3rd string qb. You can put blame on the OL or coaches but this year will show whether or not he is even better than Fiedler who is nothing more than a back-up qb.

Anyone who still refers to Feeley as a third string quarterback understands nothing about the game. A third string Quarterback doesn't lead his team to a victory over the Super Bowl champs. You can argue that he isn't a good starting quarterback but after that statement you should just stick to sports you are more familiar with like men's gymnastics and synchronized swimming

Umm. Still clinging to that Pats win? Give it a rest already. It was one game.

Still clinging to last year's 9-7 record?

It's over. Give it a rest. All the years that we went 10-6 or 9-7 people said we weren't "good enough" to get over the hump.

So don't act like the bills did anything great. It's a new year bub. I hope Losman makes quick decisions, with the likes of Jason Taylor, John Abraham and Willie McGuinnest rushing your gaping hole at left tackle.

DD28 try not to be a fool, please. Should I totally forget last years record just because the dolphins want to? Give me a break. It's clear if the dolphins had a good record last year then you wouldn't be saying "This year is a different year" Just shut up with that. It's so pathetic.

And yes, I'll mention our nine victories...not just one.

*Sigh*

Always gotta play the name calling card.

...anyway, I guess this scenario is different from the years we went 10-6 or 9-7, like I said, and bills fans said we still "sucked."

And it was another poster, not me, who keeps alluding to the New England victory.

...and you still conveniently dodged the other part of my post. What about your left tackle spot???

Vernon Carey doesn't sound so funny now, does it.

I didn't dodge anything. The first sentence of your post was so mind numbingly asinine it sent me off on a tangent. Were you just looking to start an argument? Seems like it.

As for LT how should I know? The bills picked the guy up recently and last time I checked I don't work for the bills. If they think we can get by with Gandy then that is what I'll have to go with. Would I like a big name LT? Of course, but it doesn't look like we will have one.

At least I only have to worry about one position this year.

LOL, yeah right.
