Once and for all, IT WAS A FORWARD PASS!

Well Mr. Zapruder we will be eagerly awaiting your detailed findings... The Warren Report should have nothing on this issue! 22 pages and counting:chuckle:

It comes out tomorrow night. Will report on Thursday sometime.

Not Definite It's A Forward Pass

Love the fact we got the win, but I am not sure they would have gone back to review this after the refs missed the call. They wold have reviewed whether Brown stepped out or not, but I doubt they would have gone back through the whole play to reveal they missed the fact that Big Ben threw the ball forward.

The refs have been pretty bad this year and it has cost us in a couple of our losses. This would have hurt the most as it would have pretty much killed our season.

Head of officiating Dean Blandino on TA, talked about #Steelers final play: Ben lateral would’ve stood. Not definite it’s a forward pass

The head of officiating Dean Blandino said today that the lateral was so close it would not have been overturned.

No kidding. Lots of us were posting that Sunday night, when posters here were still covering their eyes and pretending it was clear cut, a full yard in front.

We got away with a miracle. If you stick Brown on that path a hundred times I doubt he gets sloppy and steps out of bounds on his own more than a handful. Certainly not double digits.

I don't understand how folks think nyjunc is taking credit away for the win.

eh ... I think we are all wondering why he invests so much time into the Miami Dolphins. I guess this site is just that much better than Gang Green.

That Twitter feed compared to this thread just shows the limitations of Twitter. 140 characters or less doesn't give me much insight.

If there wasn't snow on the ground I bet he stays in. Then again, if there wasn't snow, it would have been a different game anyhow.

I completely disagree. That is not the only angle they have on the play. I wonder if Dean has taken a look at the play from different angles like they would have had it been reviewed. LDaniel has NFL game pass with all the different angles and is going to take a look at it. Maybe we will get a better look if he post some snap shots.

Not sure how we got lucky when the play shouldn't have even taken place since the WR was not set when the ball was snapped. Maybe Dean would have overlooked that as well?

That's the question certainly.... It appears we're creating some work for LDaniel... I hope he can find the time!

League will defend its refs.

Even from Heisenphin's video shot you can see that at best the ball was thrown at the 33 and caught at the 33 (Ben was falling forward so do you start where his hand was when the ball left?). Is a lateral pass also a sideways pass? If I throw a sideways pass is that also considered a lateral? Can then a sideways 'lateral' pass be picked up as a fumble (if dropped)?

As long as the pass is not forward, it is considered legal.

I have seen QBs throw a quick screen pass to a WR, sideways, and yet the refs blow the play dead because of the drop (WR was too busy looking to run before he secured the catch).

I think in a situation like this, the refs make the call and I think that the refs here didn't think the play would go as far as it did so they let it go.

If the pass/lateral is behind the line of scrimmage, it can be thrown forward and still be legal. If the pass/lateral is beyond the line of scrimmage then it must be thrown even with or behind the runner/passer.

The side judge had the best angle of the play and I think he fell asleep on the job.
