Rank Tannehill Among Young QB's?

Last time I checked, I'm the one providing evidence for my statements. While you and tweedle dum are sitting in the corner with your panties in a bunch.

Come on. Give me a reason - other than "watch them play" (I have. Every game that Kaepernick and Tannehill have played as pros). Give me the elite qualities in Tannehill.

Your only proof was some stat and a playoff record...and I don't buy that you watched every game kapernick has played cuz then u would know what I was talking about..be honest you've watched mostly highlights.

Look dude, I'm not trying to sit here and name call with some guy on the internet....but you called me a jackass homer...for no reason. I don't agree with your opinion and your acting like Obama when someone disagrees with him he just calls them racist...in your case u use the term homer.

Give me the elite qualities in Tannehill.

I have been watching football for over 40 years. Tannehill's willingness to stand in the pocket with crap for an OL week after week was amazing. His mental and physical toughness is elite. I have seen many, many QBs ruined by the type of punishment that Tannehill took last season. Please refer to David Carr for an example.

Elite mental toughness. He has elite athleticism for the position. Arm talent is at least upper quarter of the league. Ability to throw on the run, especially to the left, is elite.

Most of the Tannehaters under estimate the impact of the OL play on last season's team.

FWIW, even I think Tannehill is slightly better than Kaepernick.

Kaepernick is one of the most overrated players in the league. I have no doubts that if S.F had made the correct decision and stuck with Alex Smith they would have won a Super Bowl.

I'll take a shot at it, and leave it at this (most is from PFF on his individual performance, not the entire offense):

PFF analysis statement: "While QB Rating is obviously supposed to be a QB statistic, it’s actually a better gauge of what the entire offense did in a given situation. This is the type of information that is actually extremely valuable to our NFL team customers as their game planning efforts must go towards stopping an entire passing offense, not just the quarterback.

If the quarterback throws an easy dump off pass to the RB who then weaves through the defense for the touchdown, it’s certainly not a great indicator of quarterbacking skill as it is the running back and defense accounting for the majority of the work on the play. Of course the QB Rating will look quite shiny in that situation.

On the other hand, PFF Grade is a good indicator of how well the quarterback actually performed in a given situation. Whether they throw an accurate pass that was dropped, or perhaps an inaccurate one that should have been intercepted and the defense dropped, the PFF grade will account for those situations with a positive and a negative grade respectively while QB Rating will simply reflect the 0-for-1 passing."

On with the numbers:

- 18 to 1 Redzone TD/INT ratio...please poke a hole in that.

- In the "Pass Depth" category, Tannehill graded positive throughout. "Pass Depth" grade yards for which the ball traveled in the air, excluding YAC. Low YAC contributed to his "pathetic" YPA average of 1 yard less than the elites.

- Tannehill had a positive grade for 9 routes in the "Routes thrown" category. Ranked 8th overall.

- The best QB's in the league's statistics were helped by significantly more play-action than Tannehill's. Miami ran very little action, but in that limited action, Tannehill had a 121 QB rating when running play action in 2013.

- In down-and-distances of 2nd/medium, 2nd/short, 3rd/medium, 3rd/short, Ryan graded out extremely high. A little lower in 3rd and medium, but still positively graded. He was top 3 in the NFL.

- When Tannehill had 2.1-2.5 seconds to throw, 2nd best in the NFL after Tom Brady. As a side note, he was strongest with 3-5 step drops.

- Tannehill graded positive in every "blitz" category. He also graded strongly from under center.

- Tannehill rated top in the league at throwing on the run to the left.

- Tannehill's TD/INT ratio, and completion percentage suffered compared to most top tier QBs because of another factor...1 throw from a 1-step drop all year. These are high completion (over 70% normally) passes with an absurdly high innate TD/INT ratio associated with them. Manning, Brees, etc all throw several more than 1, per game. But you'll probably call that Tannehill's fault also, since he's the OC too.

That is beyond great for a QB that was CONSTANTLY under siege taking 58 sacks and tons of pressures/hits.

In all honesty, you take that performance and capability, mix it in with an at least "decent" running game and O-line, and you have a deep playoff run. If you can't see that through your hater-shades, then you're beyond help.

What the heck has Tanny done to be ranked so high on most of these list? Please take off the homer glasses...

PFF is garbage. Ive said it for years, whether it suits my argument or not. My post history definitely has its share of PFF hate. Just look at their rankings. Most people can see right then and there how useless PFF is.

LOL...ok.

Ryan Tannehill finished with a better PFF rating than Brady. Josh McCown rated better than Brady and Rodgers.

In 2010, Brady rated as the 33rd best player. Right between Antoine Winfield and Matt Birk.

If thats not a clue as to what a joke of a ratings site PFF is, I dont know what to tell you.

It's more of an indication that you can't accept an INDIVIDUAL analysis, because they're on a good/bad team. Tannehill WAS better than Brady last year...but the Patriots were far better than the Dolphins.

Smack Brady a few times, the wheels fall off. Smack Tannehill a few times, he shows no negative signs from it...unless injured. Why try so hard to not believe your team's QB is quality, in spite of directly relevant evidence? Are you that stuck on your football wizardry? Do you get paid for it?
