RUMOR: Developing Story: Matt Moore on the Trade Block !!!!!!!!!!!!

If they move Moore, I can grantee there will only be 2 QB's on the opening roster with Lobato sent to the Practice Squad. This will also be a joyous day for me since I will no longer have to listen to the hogwash that Matt Moore is our best option to win when in reality he is average at best.

the moore is a top guy stuff as a backup is severely overrated...lets lose that cap hit...tannehill gets hurt we are done anyways...save that $5 mil

I am not sure why everybody is hating on Matt Moore so much. Tannehill and Moore have a fantastic relationship and he is a great mentor to him (Tannehill's words). He is a very capable backup who can carry the team for a 3 or 4 game span in case Tannehill gets hurt. He knows the system and has not disappointed in camp. He is an insurance in case Tannehill gets injured.
If we would be in a playoff race (if we would be...) and Tannehill gets injured I do feel comfortable enough to have Moore carry us and keep us in playoff range until Tannehill gets back.
Moore is no danger to Tannehill. You never will find a more committed and unselfish backup like him again. He is a team player through and through and knows his role on the roster.

BTW Moore's salary ($4 Million) and signing bonus ($1.5 Million) are guaranteed. We would hit a dead money spot of $1.5 Million and the new team would have to agree to pay Moore $4 Million unless he is willing to renegotiate.

I'm sorry, but I just don't care a whole lot about the status of the back up QB's....It's Tannehill's team, they are toast if he goes down....who gives a **** who backs him up. If they can get a pick for him then fantastic...

you guys really think matt moore can run all that on the move qb play this offense is sure to employ this year and more important than the movement and athlete throw with accuracy on the hoof???

nah...they'd have to scrap a lot of the playbook if matt moore played...play it more traditional pocket etc...

Brady Quinn sucks. If we were going to move on from Matt Moore we should have gotten a better backup QB (see Bill Belichech: even with Tom Frickin' Brady as QB he still drafts QB's, while we stood pat with Moore and Devlin).

I'm not saying Moore is a top shelf guy. A few weeks ago, I came around to the notion we can carry 2 QBs instead of 3 IF Devlin could surplant Moore. As I have long believed Moore's value to us was as a mentor and on field sounding board for RT. As well as being able to give us at least a .500 chance to win games if we needed him to start. And I believe the "short term starter" value he gives us is being completely swept under the rug to help invalidate his $5M contract.

If we are in Week 14 and are in the Wildcard hunt or better, we absolutely MUST protect our playoff hopes. A playoff for this team has astronomical value to this organization. It cannot be undervalued or overlooked simply because we don't anticipate we could win a Super Bowl. This organization and it's players need reinforcement that we are headed in the right direction. They need validation. If it's late in the year and Moore is our starter, I've not turned off the TV or conceded the season is over. The games are still on the schedule and we still have a chance.

I was okay with cutting Moore IF Devlin could prove he was ready for the QB2 spot. But out of nowhere, Devlin is cut. I'm sure those that believe Devlin's ceiling had been reached were glad to see this "long over due" move made. It can be spun however they want. I trust the coaches' judgement on Devlin.

But to trade Moore and bring in Quinn after cutting Devlin no more than a week ago .... seems like this strategy could have been employed or foreeseen earlier in FA and before the draft. I will say it seems Philbin is giving Lazor full reign over the QBs. And it seems this is Lazor making decisions about his QBs. I agree with this philosophy. I just question the timing. And I question the lack of options we have left ourselves with at this stage in the game.

I would have thought it more appropriate to show more evidence of this strategy of turning over the QB depth with us bringing in more legitimate options earlier. To have a true competition for QB2 and QB3 with FAs and a draft pick, in addition to Jensen.

It just seems very unorganized from my viewpoint. Unless something unforeseeable has taken place in the past few weeks.

The 1972 Phins would disagree with you...

This. If we are 8 - 6 with 2 games left.... are we tossing in the towel on the playoffs simply because our Franchise QB is hurt? No.

Who told you that? One of your invisible resources?

God forbid tannehill gets hurt. I understand the move from a salary cap perspective, but you dont do this kind of move without a plan in place.

I think we are looking at this in a doom scenario.

If say, Tannehill has to sit out a game or two during the season, can Moore step in and win? If yes, then he's worth the $5.

I think we will all regret, if Tannehill has a strained hammy or hurt wrist, etc. and we need Moore to step in for 2-3 weeks and get a couple of W's to keep us in playoff race.

Understood, if Tannehill goes down for the long term, the season is a wrap. But what about short term sub in?

Do you trust Quinn to even come close to getting us a W?

Sounds like Moore had a good day today and Quinn had a bad day at practice. The reality is that some teams have open conflict between the QB and his backup. Just the other day we heard from Cleveland that the Browns are split 50:50 between Hoyer and Manziel. However, Matt Moore has always behaved as a total professional here as a Dolphin. Tannehill has been very open about his appreciation of Matt Moore and the help he has given him and I believe it.
It's easy to dismiss the Matt Moore as a top guy, as just BS and unimportant until you end up with a backup, who is divisive and a few days later you have a QB controversy. $5M is a lot for a backup QB. However, this is why you spend money on insurance. It's not like we are scrambling to keep players within the cap, although it would be good to hear Odrick and Clay negotiate contract extensions.

I think Matt Moore can probably get this team 1-2 wins if Ryan Tannehill has to miss four games. Brady Quinn gets us 0 wins.

I still think I would rather have that extra 5 million in salary cap space to roll over, though. Just my honest opinion.

We have a developing story in the wake of the Brady Quinn signing yesterday. Unconfirmed reports at this time say that Matt Moore is on the Trade Block and Miami is actively shopping him. We are working on trying to confirm this report and get more info. More on this story as it develops.

also,

The Miami Dolphins are reportedly considering trading Matt Moore and ... that Miami Dolphins have received phone calls from “multiple teams” looking to trade for QB Matt Moore.

nfltraderumors.co/tag/matt-moore

IF nfltraderumors is true, wonder why "multiple teams" would have interest in trading for his $4M salary when many here believe him to be overpaid garbage?

FWIW, Philbin and crew have to win this year, and if RT is injured, Moore gives them a better chance to do so than anyone else we have. Also, Moore will have more value later as opposed to sooner.

Just for a second, let's jump in the "what if" machine.

Am I the only person who thinks cutting Devlin and trading Moore at this stage in the preseason, after the draft and after FA, would seem like the absolute worst plan to be executed at the most important position?

We're gutting our QB backup roster with a month to go before the season and with a new offense being installed?

We didn't know about this going into the draft?

This was our best plan? We couldn't have taken a flier on a developmental QB in the draft? Our best attempt in the draft was Brock Jensen, an UDFA? And we wait until we decide he can't cut it AND still follow through with our plan?

If true, there HAS to be something else brewing.

At this point, that's the only thing that makes sense to me.

I didn't pay much attention to Lobato because I literally thought he was just a camp arm. Can someone shed a decent light on what they have seen of him in camp and/or game?

Great point! We should have taken a flier on a qb in draft. Instead of drafting a TE that will probably get cut after drafting TEs the last 2 years...
