Pat Mahomes is a once a generation talent. No qb will be as good as him for many, many years.
Russell Wilson has carried a bad team to the playoffs, while leading them in rushing and being efficient.
This notion he's had those things to fall back on means little when he's the teams leading rusher and the defense fell off, hard. When he was young he was benefitting from the same running game and defense that went 7-9 the year before he got there.
In 2012 they had the most rushing attempts in the league, in 13 they had the 2nd most, in 14 they had the 2nd most, in 15 they had the 3rd most, in 16 and 17 the 20th most (shocking), and last year the 2nd most.
It's not a coincidence that last year they "got back on track" in terms of being an excellent football team by pounding the rock, not to take too much away from Wilson because he is very good, but running it that frequently with an excellent D is GREATLY beneficial to ANY QB in the NFL and his fanboys just ignore that. Pete Caroll knows what he's doing, and I can see why they may play hard ball with RW because they don't need him to be successful (team identity great D and run game, Richard Sherman knew this and probably why he's put Wilson down publicly and said Seattle lost their way), even if he helps a lot.
