Saban “I hate it...”

If Grier is true to his word, Miami will be very aggressive in F/A. It was apparent last year, they were acting with extreme caution, with regards to over paying for any F/A. That may change in 2020? With the strength of F/A being Offensive Line, I'm hopeful they'll be able to sign at the very least, one starting caliber player, perhaps two?

I think we will be aggressive in FA … just not the "top dogs"

So you are implying that Tunsil, a player who Grier drafted and Fitzpatrick, a player who you state has a few good games and then disappeared and Grier also drafted just aren’t that good anyway and Grier was able to frisk the draft picks from both of these teams.

If neither of these former first round draft picks are not really that good, it makes me more worried about Grier making the selections in the draft. Because Harris has been a bust, Wilkins was average on the defensive line and according to you Tunsil and Fitzpatrick were no big losses. Those 4 players were the first round draft picks since Grier became the teams GM in 2016. One bust, one pedestrian LT, (your term), a mediocre Defensive lineman and a player who according to you who MIGHT eventually become a stud doesn’t say much about Grier‘s ability to draft talented players in the first round. Yet this is the man responsible for selecting 3 players in round 1 this year and likely 2 players in the first round next year.

One more issue regarding Fitzpatrick not wanting to buy into the system. The fact is the defensive system sucked and that is why the Dolphins defense was the worst defense in the NFL. I think Fitzpatrick was smart enough to realize that the defense the Dolphins wanted to implement was a bad defense and therefore he wanted nothing to do with it.

Yeah ... I don't believe Grier is to shoulder the blame for some of this ... coaches want certain things ... We don't know the inner works of the FO ... the coaches that wanted certain players have been fired ... Grier is still here ... Can't believe he overrides and picks who he wants ...

What are we going to do about the RT spot, considering we may bring Tua in here?

What? Jesse Davis isnt good enough for you? lol

But I feel like we are more likely to throw top OL at a guard rather than tackle, but maybe thats just us fin fans connecting the Thuney dots. I'd love to go after Conklin too but those 2 both might reset the marker. Also- we know Conklin is a very good run blocker, but I think I've read before his pass protector leaves something to be desired.. Either way though, LT has to be considered a bigger need currently, given the guys we have on the team. I hope we draft plenty of cornfed -- no matter the qb or rb here next year

IJS, when/if Tua is back there on a shaky hip (maybe), lets not bang the table for a RT for his blindside.

You are very right about Conklin. Before the team got hot he was a turnstile and many Titans fans wanted him out. The playoff run has diminished the memory of his play the past couple seasons but there should be concern if you want to pay him top money.

The only pick you can pin on Grier is Wilkins. Period. ( Think TannenBum) If you think Grier made the 'final call' on the other three you would be wrong. Grier just cleaned up the mess, and did so reasonably well. I get it, you don't like Grier. There maybe a lot more after this draft, including me, but I'm willing to let Grier AND Flo make the call, and see what happens. I want to see the plan with Rosen also, that might be another GM move that works albeit a long shot at best. I see more of a plan being implemented this past season than in the last 5 years, lets see what happens. I for one am running out of years for another Super Bowl run.

Look for an underwhelming FA, maybe one "big" signing on O (someone like Thuney) and one on D (likely a CB/S since the scheme calls for lots of DBs). Otherwise look for building the roster from the 15th-53rd guy type players. Also, I would be an advocate for the 2 for 1 style of signings. Adding a CB or a RT could make multiple positions better quickly filling the holes Miami has making the draft more focused.

For consideration the available cap is below; CAP SPACE (TOP 51) is the column to look at. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO CLICK ON INDIVIDUAL TEAMS AND GET A BREAKDOWN OF CURRENT CAP HITS AND CONTRACTS. Take this into consideration when looking at FAs, guys might be available people dont expect to make it to the market due to cap availability.

The Cowboys have $81 million but will have to give Dak and Amari like 50 of that, Bucs are a mess but the Bills might make some moves so look out for them and the Giants could but might not really have an identity under that new staff. This FA period will be interesting. Otherwise the teams in the top 10 have major FA types that will eat a big chunk of the available cap (ex the seahakws sign Clowney to a D law type deal means $20-22 million gone right off the bat).

Griers given enough kernels.

I fully expect us to TRYto sign 4-6 starters at non premium prices, guys that are coming from depth roles and want potential to breakout. Value value value is what Grier stresses.

You have to be very good from 15-53 on the roster to be a SB level team, and with the upcoming number of draft picks getting players in that top 15 will see an influx of talent. What this team is thin on is that next tier. Good starters who play a role and can elevate the whole team by complementing or boosting guys around them. Being smart and taking the route you laid out above will lead to longer term success than blowing the wad of cash on a few guys.

TBH I see guys like AVG as an extra FA/draft pick. He played very little but got tons of practice. Get stronger and take the off season to work on your flaws and he could become a very solid guy to boost the roster.

I don’t have a lot of confidence in Grier when it comes to draft day but hopefully he has hired the right people around him and he will listen to them when it comes to selecting the best available players on draft day. The fact is that Grier has been a part of the teams draft process for the last 20 years and it is because of how lousy this team has done in the draft over all those years that they are in the position they are in today.

Hopefully Grier proves me wrong but if he doesn‘t we are looking at several more years of mediocre play on the field or worse.
I think your assessment of Grier is a little harsh. He was a subordinate during the majority of those years in the blame the teams problem solely on him is a bit of a stretch.

I’m selling it like this, because i truly believe it -

We’re coming into 2020 with a wide receiver who will be healthy back in his 2nd year that I’d probably put a genuine 2/3rd round grade on if he were in this draft in P. Williams

We’re coming into 2020 with an athletically limited yet high motored pass rusher id consider solid depth in Vince B

We found a trash heap guard, traded pennies, and now he actually turned out to be a pretty damn good pass protecting center, who earned a shot to Continue to improve this time at run blocking in Boehm
