Let's not forget how desperately the powers that be here tried to bring CJ Anderson in here to replace Ajayi or that Arian Foster was our starter. They didn't see Ajayi coming. I always liked the kid. Hickey drafted the 5th best prospect from one of the all-time best RB drafts. It was a great move and is paying off hugely.
BUT doesn't reflect on Miller at all. He's a major talent in this league stuck in a trainwreck in Houston. Why would anyone do anything but stack the box against Osweiler? Miller looked dynamite just two weeks ago. I was really hyped about the Miller/Ajayi situation this year. We could have very much had a setup like the Freeman/Coleman duo in Atlanta. Shame. Just stupid giving up young talent for nothing.

Perfectly fine with not paying Lamar. And Ajayi is looking awesome. But Millers slowish start to the season totally falls on Osweiller. I mean are you kidding me with that guy? Miller has no room in that offense, running for the worst passing team in the league.

Charles Clay got more for doing less (and continuing to do less) and Vernon's contract was absurd to the level of not being comparable to Miller's. The former two impacted our ability to sign other players. Miller's did not. So again, the money argument continues to make no cents.
Bottomline - some people think Lamar Miller was worth $5.5M per, and some don't. I don't.

Just cuz he's from Miami doesn't mean he wanted to be hear... If that was the case, the contracts offered weren't that far off for him to come back if he really wanted to play for us... That fact is he'd rather play for a little more money and a guaranteed bigger role in an offense that now pwoople say aren't using him right than to come back and play for his "favorite" team and earn a bigger role.I don't believe he wanted to be here more than he wanted to leave

i rebuttaled someone using stats by using stats as an argument. that's fair, right? i've watched as much of Houston's offense as my patience can handle.

Apparently talking about ypc is only acceptable to talk about when it makes lamar Miller look good.
Based on the almighty stats you guys are relying on, how is the 5th best RB in the league at the moment not worth the 6th most amount of money, keeping in mind that he's only the 6th highest paid because he has the newest contract and will certainly move down that list as others are re-signed next offseason? Plus, I bet he would have stayed for a little less than that, pushing him even further down that list.
Talent costs money in the NFL and when you have the opportunity to keep homegrown talent for a reasonable price (Miller vs Vernon), you do it. Well, at least good teams do.
So you guys have no context in which to evaluate those stats. Alrighty.

What context?
Up until the Indy game the talk of miller in Houston wasn't look how good he is, it was whats wrong with Miller and the run game.
he's had one good game all season vs a swish cheese defense.
He's mirroring exactly what he was here, a nothhing special running back who blows up for a game or 2 per year.
Well everything would be perfect if we lived retrospectively now wouldn't it.

Think about it for a second, what context could I be referring to in regards to stats? It probably doesn't have anything to do with what's said on FH. It does, however, have to do with the reasonyou gave for not watching Houston play, which is why you can't place those stats (5th best, if that's all you want to go by) in context.
YPC is completely meaningless when taken alone without any said context. As has been pointed out multiple times, he is the sole threat on the field with that offense, thanks to an absolutely terrible QB (which negates Hopkins and Fulladrops). He also has a shoddy line and is completely misused as a power back. Yet he still produces despite defenses knowing full well all they have to do is focus most resources on shutting him down.
Behind this line and in Gase's system, he would be dominant and a fantastic compliment to Ajayi, and this is with the benefit of hindsight. Ajayi looked like **** during the offseason and was nothing special before it, and he has a history of knee problems, making the call to let go of a proven back mind-numbingly stupid.
But maybe you're right. Don't want too much talent on the field. Wouldn't be fair to defenses.
