Still missing Lamar Miller?

You mean like Foster being here would automatically mean less carries for Ajayi?
Yes, Foster's 13 carries as the starter against Seattle meant Ajayi and Williams didn't get 13 carries. It's just simple math. Or maybe I'm missing your point??

Your missing my point. We're talking in circles here. lol.

I liked miller. But he got shut down in almost every divisional game.

He was no where near as good as we wanted him to be or as fans here pretended he was.

Why not both? Why can't we have nice things down here?

And depth, the one thing that always eludes Miami.

Then there is the hindsight at play. A proven back let go for 2 unknowns (3 once we drafted Drake). Sorry, that's not a smart call, particularly when that money saved isn't used to shore up any other position of need. And it's clear that the staff wasn't comfortable with the position either, given how hard they worked (and failed, in Tbum's case) to address it. Ajayi doing extremely well in 2 games doesn't change that. And now, like the o-line, we are very strong in one area, but dangerously thin. You need multiple starting backs in today's league, and we would have had that.

We're doing that same thing with Ajayi and Williams. And it's costing us much less to do it. I never thought Miller was that good of a back, rarely broke tackles and\or made people miss in the open field. He was not worth 5.5 mill dollars.

I like Williams, but he isn't Miller. Oh, and he would be on the team too. So, Miller, Ajayi, AND Williams. Terrible problem to have.

Where did we spend that money people keep mentioning? What deficiency did we fix? O-line depth? Secondary? You're not talking about a crazy amount of money like Vernon. It was pretty reasonable for a proven vet.

Ajayi wouldn't have gotten 13 carries because he had been playing and practicing like **** to the point that Gase told him to stay home.

And yes, it would mean less carries. You think his current pace is sustainable in today's NFL? No way, even if his knee concerns are imaginary.

I dont miss him at all, until Jay gets hurt, then we have nobody at RB... When that happens, you will see What D.Williams looks like when he needs to carry the load.... Its quite convenient to start that thread right now, dont be surprised if it gets bumped when Ayayi gets hurt and we go back to 2.5 yds/a...

I'm not reading the whole thread but I wanted to say this to people that think we'd be doing great with both here. Neither of them would be doing as good if they were both here. Actually if Miller was here then HE would be starting and there's just no way Ajayi would have have the chance to do what he's done. Miller leaving it's the best that could have happen to both players. Miller is getting the carries he wanted to get here and Ajayi is now our number 1 RB and I believe we have the best of the two.

Ozzy rules!!

I already said that having depth at RB is great. I just don't think paying $6M for that depth is a good idea. Do you?

btw, Drake should be number 2, not Williams.....just my humble opinion

Ozzy rules!!

This is how I hope players like this are handled. When it comes to the big contract, let them go, but have a capable player waitnig to get on the field. I wish him well.

My thoughts on this:

1. Miller + Ajayi would be a devastating 1-2 punch.

2. The Texans' passing game is terrible, despite having DeAndre Hopkins, one of the best WRs in the NFL. Teams are just selling out to stop the run because Brock Fraudweiler can't make them pay.

Miller developed himself. He's a good player. He couldn't break tackles like Ajayi is doing.

Well, Miller's $5.5M cap hit is more than Andre Branch and Abdul-Quddus combined. It's more than Jason Jones, Jermon Bushrod, Kiko Alonso, Michael Thomas and Marqueis Gray combined. That's some significant depth (and starters) that we were able to buy with his equivalent salary. Not saying we couldn't have gotten any of these guys if we signed Miller, just saying $5.5M can buy you some quality players.
