Let me ask you this. You have probably said before but I don't recall.

Where do you rank Tua? Top 5? Top 10?
I think the problem with any ranking system and a long term contract is "what have you done for me lately-ism."

Look no further to Tua coming off '23 vs '22. What's the difference in those deals? Across sports, teams often get duped paying big for outlier seasons in contract years.

So you prefer not to answer?

I wasn't asking about any system. I was asking your personal opinion.

I’m sure a mod will put in me my place if I’m out of line here.

Your presence and your posts here are just detrimental to the forum at this point. You have no genuine desire to have an honest discussion, you’ve shown you’re unwilling to accept you’re wrong and are unwilling to change your mind when presented with facts and evidence which disprove your claims.

And most egregious of all, you make it impossible for posters like myself, and the many other, far more eloquent posters who also have some doubts and concerns about Tua and his contract situation to actually have a quality dialogue with others because we immediately get lumped into the same category as you and others who are here simply to sew discord, because they are so tired of arguing with people who are so clearly being disingenuous and are unwilling to have an honest discussion about the Miami Dolphins. And I don't blame them at this point.

Very well said bro!

I appreciate this post. GRYPHONK has really lost it recently. I spend way too much time debating with obvious trolls.

Not worth it. I don't really use the ignore button myself. I have, I think 2 on ignore lol.

Some of us though ( like myself), not just the trolls can do better also

That's a false, overblown premise. Relative to the percentage of salary cap, they haven't gone up as substantially as some purport, particularly when you look at contract structure, guarantees, etc.

Beyond that, what's the alternative if teams want a top 10 QB.

Are you thinking the owners are going to collude in an effort to devalue QBs? When they are making $ hand over fist?

I seriously doubt it.

So I use that app "sleeper" for my dynasty league. I saw an alert saying owners were contemplating having a separate salary cap for QB'S. Not sure how legit it may be. But I think it's an Interesting discussion

Now some on here have actually recommended that same proposal. So kudos to them for being ahead of the game.

Personally, I don't like the idea. The cap is the cap. They need to sign their 51 in that cap. I also think this would lead to stacked and loaded teams. The parity in the NFL would lesson IMO.

I know this is off topic lol. But what would you think of this idea?

My wife has had me on ignore for few years. She is quite happy 😂

Yeah, that came out a couple weeks ago. Interesting idea. I won't say impossible, but it would take a completely new agreement with the NFLPA. IIRC, the current deal runs through 2029. I have a hard time envisioning the mechanics of it. First, the players, by contract, get 49% of revenues. Are the additional monies coming out of other players' pockets? If so, I don't see widespread player support. Are the owners going to kick in the extra? That kind of defeats the purpose of the cap, which is supposedly in place to maintain fair competitive balance.

I don't know how it could be fairly implemented, but I would be in favor of some way to allow teams an advantage in keeping good players they drafted, regardless of position, rather than losing so many of them to FA. Something akin to the "Larry Bird Rule" in basketball.

It would take some doing in NFL but in NBA Larry Bird rule has worked.

If the idea is to simply limit what QBs can make, that sounds like lawsuits waiting to happen with filings from both players and agents, particularly if the owners just implement it unilaterally. That's the very definition of collusion.

Interesting.

Yeah, I do agree. It is frustrating watching guys like Wilkins and Hunt leave for cap restraint reasons. We may see it with Holland next year IMO.

Yeah, that's kind of my concern.

I only see 2 possibilities. There is either a limit or no limit at all.

Either way, I don't see how all the other players would sit idly by as they are hampered by a cap yet Burrow can go sign a billion dollar contract lol

It would take some doing in NFL but in NBA Larry Bird rule has worked.
It's complicated as hell, though.

The NBA has a "soft" cap that owners can exceed by paying a penalty. It also results in other restrictions for acquiring other FAs.

Thats true for sure. Its like apples and oranges on how either league do business.

Every major league can change when actual owners player union contracts end. It is usually incremental on the give and take.
