Tua's Next. Be prepared.

Some people just say things to try to support their argument, when in reality it doesn't matter. Let's say Tua had beat a team like Jacksonville or Houston in the first round of the playoffs and then lost to the Chiefs, Ravens or Bills in the 2nd round. Do we really think the people who keep saying Tua isn't this or that because he's 0-1 in the playoffs would change their tune if he were 1-1? Would people who are saying he's not worth the market rate really turn and say pay him $55 million per year because he's 1-1?
I think this nails it

The imaginary line they have developed around this narrative will simply move and or adjust to the next metric.

If he performs and finally wins some big games / gets them to a conf championship you can always franchise tag him for another few years No need to make a long term committment if you dont want to...Why box the franchise in at this point.
I'm not sure this makes sense....

With the Franchise tag for QB's at $38M and likely to go up next year....you are going to spend around $80M against the cap to franchise tag Tua for two years (2025 & 2026)

Under Lawrence's contract structure (posted above) they are paying $41M against the cap in those same two years.

There is a LOT of flexibility possible in a contract negotiation and would allow the team to structure a deal that works in the competitive window the team has currently in place. Using the franchise tag doesn't do that. In my opinion, the franchise tag scenario is the worst one we could do.

Lol people continue to fall for the aav trick.

Literally means nothing and a lot of contracts are fluff.

Tyreeks hill “30 aav a year” was all fluff with last year being 58 with almost no guarantee left that he’ll never see. In reality it it was a 4 year deal at 21.5 aav for those 4 years.

Same with this Tlaw contract. Ends up being 27.5 a year since year 4 and 5th year are not up yet. Jags will average 27.5 for the next 5 years for tlaw. The last two years are not guaranteed and very likely he’s given either a new contract or cut by then.

Stop falling for the bs and actually look into the contract…. It’s getting annoying

There’s no “trick” being followed. There’s a reason the deal isn’t done yet. Obviously the structure is gonna matter over everything, but if you don’t think the AAV matters, you’re kidding yourself. How much percentage of the cap this contract takes with regards to Tua’s talent and ability matters.

don't think it's happening this season. he'll likely get tagged for 25 season to ensure durability, maybe even tagged another year after that.

Tag will be $42 million next year. Where is that money coming from?

If you think that the O line hasn't been addressed over the past 6-10 years, then you are a johnny come lately fan.

Not every draft pick or FA pick up works out. They have tried, and its getting better.

Do some research.

Last 6-10 years are irrelevant.

The conversation is about NOW. Before advising someone to do some research, please actually review the conversation being had so you don't make comments like this.

What does 6 years ago have to do with the 2.1 seconds of clean pocket time by our o line last year? What does 3 years ago have to do with Miami having one of the worst pass blocking O lines in the NFL the last 2 years?

What did Miami do, this off season, to improve on one of the leagues worst pass blocking o lines on the league? They signed one of the leagues worst pass blocking Centers the last 2 years. What did Miami do to counter the injuries this O line faces every year? They drafted a T to assumable fill in for Armstead. What about Wynn? What about Jackson? Their backups are injury prone too. Who's out actual backup Center? We don't have one, unless you count a guy who was moved from LT to LG to RT TO RG to C back to RG because that's the positions he sucked least at

3,4,5,6,7,8,9 or 10 years ago is irrelevant.

Again where is that money coming from?

If he signs a new contact he won't get $55 million every year.
lol what do you mean where is the money coming from? He currently makes 23m and to get to the 36m I suggested is only a difference of 13m.

The salary cap will go up like another 30m next year. Other players contracts will be reworked. Not rocket science lol.

The question here isn't where is the money going to come from, it's weather Tua is worth 50m+ or not for 6 years, which the jury is still out on.

You don't understand the cap do you?

The dolphins would have to clear $40 million next year to tag him.
