Folks need to relax, Herbert signed his new deal in late July, Burrow in early September, this was known a long time ago and many of us were pointing to a late summer signing for Tua since the beginning of this year. It's June 26, again relax Francis, they'll get it done as both sides need each other and stand to gain with a deal. They're just hammering out the particulars, that's how a big time contract negotiation goes.

I would think if the org thought it may not be worked out (contract) or they have reservations about Tua they would have a solid backup as opposed to what we have which is camp fodder, nothing more. If you think these backups can win I believe you are sadly mistaken. I think a long term deal will happen, just hope it is good for both sides. At least they aren't just offering a blank check, time is on their side.

I feel like the Dolphins recognize that Tua is elevated by the talent around him and not the other way around. I feel like a deal could still be done, but it has to make sense for the team going forward, especially considering his track record.
Anyone in the front office thinking this should get the boot because they don`t know how to evaluate talent .Tua constantly makes this o-line look better then what they actually are .

Meaningless in that a contract that is promoted as (for example) 56m per, and one that is promoted as 49m per can have the exact same guaranteed money with an "out" option the same year, and similar dead money.

Is there then really any actual difference between the two?

Did you look at the Lawrence contract structure, out option and cap hits?

Is that really a 55m per contract as it was advertised?

No, I understand your point and we agree. In contract details, it can be meaningless. Opt outs and restructures are common. But that takes me back to my point. A player waiting til 'next year' and playing under the option is what I don't understand. Giving up money ON AVERAGE, and knowing opt outs and restructures are in his future, doesn't sound like such a big deal. That is, excluding the psychology of claiming to be the top or top 3 paid players in the league and the agent's goal of using that 'success' to sign other players.

Great breakdown on it here.

It worked out quite well for Christian Wilkins. Didn't for Conner Williams.

That's a choice and risk the individual has to make on a case by case basis. Sometimes it works out. Sometimes it doesn't.

Not looking promising for a quick deal

It may be that they kick the tires another year to see if Tua can cut the mustard

The big question is will this site crash on the day Tua signs a contract. I'm sure every single person will try to have something to say.

I would agree.

Tua was the fastest QB in the league at 2.28 seconds.

Some seem to take for granted how significant that is. That is what makes the scheme work. Mahomes for instance, best QB in the league doesn't get the ball out that quickly.

So when our o line is considered acceptable with only 2.1, you can't just throw in any QB, no matter how good and expect similar results.

Ironically, Fabio in Jacksonville may be successful as he has a quick release also

But you put a Burrow/ Allen/ Mahomes in Miami? Won't work in this scheme. Doesn't mean they won't be successful, just means the scheme would need changing.

Then you'll really see how good or bad this O line actually is

He has "cause" to not honor a contract?
Bad choice of words… perhaps a sit in, as Connor Williams did… if only to allow the team to see how putrid the offense would be without him. Only 4-5 QBs could run this offense. I’m not a Dak fan, but in the MCD offense, he’d be terrific.
