When you have 12 WR's ....

Scary Terry is an inch taller than Parker/Williams and runs slightly faster...he could be had in the third round. That's how friggin' deep this class is.

Take 2-3 good ones, just like you did with Oline last year.
I think Terry could quicky develop into a younger version of Golladay. Terry 6'4 210 and Golladay 6'4 215. Not sure if Miami will or should go that direction.

I like him. I'll be watching him where ever he goes.

I believe we will keep 7 WRs due to the multi-faceted skills of some of these guys. That includes Grant who I believe makes it due to Specials. He hasn’t been here that long and he’s already the franchise all time leader in kick return TDs. It’s a big play league. His handful of long returns and scores justify a roster spot IMO.

It’s called the “off season”
The roster is ALWAYS bloated during this time. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Dang, with that many WRs I think God-Stud need to design plays that turn our WRs weaknesses into strengths.

For example, run trips with Williams, Grant, and Parker all running the same route 1 yard apart. Tua can pass to Williams in which the ball will bounce off his stomach as he tries a leaping basket-catch, leading to the ball bouncing in the air off Grant's hands of stone, resulting in Parker there to secure the catch.
I like it

7 on the 53-man roster??? if you figure 3 kicking game specialist and 25/25 ration for the offense that would mean more than 25 % of you offensive players are wrs. If Miami carries 9 olinemen and 7 wrs that would only leave 9 spots for qbs, tes and rbs. I think 7 wrs would be extreme overkill, unless of course we're talking about the roster and the practice squad.

Teams occasionally carry 7 WRs, but never for more than a week or two. And to do this, they'd probably have to drop down to just 3 RBs or shave off one of the Tight Ends.

As the old adage goes, when you have two starting QB's, you have no starting QB. Soooo, when you have 12 WR's ... you don't have a starting set of WR's.

No offense to you, Digital, but adages like these always cause me to roll eyes. People read or hear them, think they sound clever and buy into it.

But, like all things, nothing is concrete or that simple.

I’m pretty sure when SF had Montana and Young, they had 2 QB’s. When GB had Favre and Rodgers, they also had 2 QB’s.

I think most of us agree that MIA is in desperate need of play makers. They partially addressed the need with Will Fuller. Getting Preston Williams back healthy might also help. And so might the development of the young players already on the roster. Then there’s the draft.

Point is, the number of receivers currently on the roster doesn’t necessarily equate as you suggest. Not that long ago the receiver position was thought to be a strength. It may well again soon.

We shall see.

You have a point. Coming out of 2019, with the offense being 95% pass and 5% Fitzy scrambling, WR was seen as perhaps the strongest position group on the team. A year later, coming out of the 2020 season most people would say WR was a close 2nd to RB as the weakest position group!

I could see it possibly happening if 2 of those 7 are guys who play every single ST snap and possibly get zero snaps on offense barring injury. Most likely Grant and Hollins but it's possible one or both of those get replaced by Perry/Bowden.

I was curious about this so I checked a couple of game summaries on nfl.com for last year. I looked at week #1 and week #17. Both of those games the fins had 8 OL, 2 QB, 3 TE and 4 RB active. Week 1 had 5 WR active, week 17 had 6 WR.

Interesting note, week 1 both Perry and Bowden were listed as RBs although not activated for the game. Week 17, Bowden was a starting WR and Perry was a substitute with his position listed as RB/WR.

Projecting right now my guess is that if the team has 6 WRs active for week one it will be:
Fuller
DVP
Williams
Rookie TBD
Bowden
Grant

Hollins may hang on based on his value on ST. I really doubt Wilson or Hurns can displace any of the 6 I listed, especially after being away from the game for so long. I really like Ford but he's spent so much time on the fringe it's unlikely he will suddenly break through now. Merritt couldn't work his way into the lineup last year despite so many injuries, he's a long shot to stick on the active roster. The rest I see as camp bodies who will have to be lights out in training camp to have any hope at all.

My best guesses would be:

Locks:
DVP, Fuller, and Williams rotating as our two flanks.
Rookie (likely in the slot)

Next best bets:
Bowden and Wilson

Long shots:
Foster (signed for vet minimum, could be cut for 100K)
Hurns and Grant (trying to trade them)

PS candidates:
2 UDFA rookies
Perry
Locksley

Dead where they stand:
Hollins
Merritt

DVP is signed for 3 more years are VERY competitive salaries... 7.75M this year, 5.7 in '22 and '23.

As he slips into our second WR spot, he can stay as long as he plays 13-14 games per season at that salary. I think he'll be with us for awhile.
Those numbers are only his base salary and don't include the 3.3 million in signing (and other) bonuses he is owed all 3 years.

His totals are 8.95 and 9 mill in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
