You have to be able to do both effectively. Interesting statistic: the 3 best teams in the NFC last season were #30, #31, and #32 in passing attempts per game. These teams all had young quarterbacks who weren't really able to shoulder the load of carrying their respective offenses on their backs, yet they went a combined 37-10. Two of them played in the NFC championship game, and that #32 team just happened to win the Super Bowl. And I like that #32 team's chance to repeat because they are able to put more on their quarterback as he develops and be better for it, as opposed to putting it all on him and then wondering why they went 8-8.
You have to threaten with the run and the pass in order to be successful in football. What is perplexing about the Dolphins right now is that we don't really threaten teams with our awful passing game, yet we're still refusing to run the ball, and we have continued with the same ineffective passing routes and concepts for two weeks in a row. Bill Lazor needs to right this ship quickly, because it's taking on water fast and he is as culpable as the crummy QB right now.
We're true to the Packers offense. Live and die by the pass.

For OP's topic, I'd say Jim Harbaugh intrigues me more than any other choice.
I think personally the guy's kind of annoying, but he's a guy that would give Miami a lot of energy, swagger, and bring on the heat against the other AFC coaches.
Can you imagine all of the hype going into a Ravens/Miami game? It'd be a lot of fun to watch.
I think the 49ers starting to slide is more due to Kaepernick being inconsistent than anything in the media about Harbaugh losing the locker-room.
I used to be a big Kapernick fan when he was at Nevada, so I don't blame SF at all for drafting him.
Problem is, he's now uber-popular in the NFL so I doubt they can just move on from him now that he has a big fan-base. Trying to be a flashy winning QB but not really fundamentally a great NFL QB.
I think Harbaugh in Miami with Lazor as OC, a high-round QB prospect, and Tannehill or Moore as backup, is what the Fins need.
