Fins take Raekwon MacMillan with 54th Pick

Positives: 3rd down specialist in Harris and a 2 down LB in McMillan gives us a complete every down defender.

Everybody keeps crying about the 3 down player thing, but Brian Billick brought up the point tonight that the league has changed and more and more teams are drafting players for specific matchup types. One coach and GM told him they played in their base defense only 25% of the time last season. The 3 down player thing is overrated these days.

Home. Run.

Excellent pick. Outstanding.

Totally agree.

McMillan didn't live up to early expectations given that he was a 5 star recruit out of HS, but really improved the past 2 seasons. Had a really good season this past Fall. As I said before, he's a player that's proven to be on an incline and should only get better. Sure, he has flaws and areas to improve upon, but so do all players. This kid has all the talent and skill you look for in a player --- and he's a hard worker. Those players tend to succeed.

Urban Meyer had high praise for the kid saying that he is one of his favorites players -- ever. That may not mean anything to some, but it says something to me.

Lets say we play the Pats and Harris is on the field...do the Pats play to Harris' strengths, or do they line Gronkowski over him ans pound ir down his throat...when we adjust and shade help over there what does Brady do then. Harris stays out there...rain or shine.

No subs in the hurry up style the Pats play.

I think we've all read this before. Link....?

Koa Misi take a seat. For good!
Koa is now on backup money. He is a great team man and I expect that part of his role is to teach McMillan how to be a pro. How to analyze opponents and compete at Training Camp, etc. Koa loves the Miami Dolphins and McMillan couldn't get a better veteran to learn from. And if he get's injured, Koa can fill in if he's fully healthy.
I thought that it was a little odd that they didn't just cut Koa a few months ago when Mario Williams, Branden Albert and co got their marching orders. My read is that Mike Tannenbaum had the plan for Koa to take a big haircut and teach a rookie, the ropes.

Very solid pick. Coverage is a work-on but he's a 1st rounder in most drafts. Saw him interviewed a whole back and looks a brilliant kid with the perfect frame for Linebacker.

Well, when I think of 54 I think Zach Thomas, so I hope taking another ILB with the 54th pick is a good omen.

Anthony Walker should have been the pick. Does everything McMILLAN does only much better and without mcmillans week spots. Much, much better athlete also. Whoever our scouts are and whoever is ok'ing these picks needs to find a new hobby.

A situational de who is one dimentional and can't stop the run or shed blockers and will only see the field part time and an mlb who can't cover and will be a two down player.

I mean a DRAFT FULL of top notch athletes, productive, instinctive players and we pic two who have issues as athletes. We couldn't stop the run and the lb's couldn't cover so we pick a player #1 who can't stop the run and an lb at #2 who can't cover and is stiff as a board.

Only the dolphins folks, only the dolphins.

Once again, your assessments of players comes up short. So what's the reason that Anthony Walker hasn't been picked through three rounds? Hmmm :ponder:

Maybe Kenny feels guilty after 'the drop'

He shouldn't. He more than made up for it the rest of the year and he's a class act off the field. If people are still upset about it at this point, it says more about them than Stills.

He's got that Andre Johnson brow, and his knees are thick like a real NFL linebacker. 6'2 240;4.6 forty. No injuries...How was he not rated higher? Looks like one of Denver's lbers in their last Super bowl.

Count me in.
