so u think this is all irelands idea?

Gulp! the same Nolan Carrol that got dusted in the opening game last season by the patriots???

I think you missed the part of the story where Ireland made the trade and there was no mention of Philbin.

Ireland would not have made the trade without Philbin's ok. Probably Coyle's too.

Armando gives a detailed account of the process in which we traded our player and everybody jumps in with "NO NO NO Thats not how it happened! IT CANT BE! Ireland wouldnt do that because i wouldnt want him to do that!!!!" The delusion is hilarious. There isnt a single source out there saying it was Philbin pushing this trade, yet people insist on it like its fact.

After 3 consecutive losing season and a 4th on the way, after screwed up trades, after missed draft picks, after horribly bad free agent signings, after the incompetence during the cutting of Joey Porter, after the Harbaugh fiasco, after the Tannehill lockout, i have no idea why people think they have any accurate clue as to what Jeff Ireland will or wont do at any given moment. And the fierce loyalty he has inspired is baffling.

Take a deep breath. The Lions proved you can rebuild a team within 2 years. The Colts are proving you can do it in a single offseason. The Miami Dolphins were around before Jeff Ireland, they will be around after Jeff Ireland. There is a reason to be a fan and still wish for Ireland to be fired.

What else did you expect from children? Adult reasoning skills?

lol, that's not the way Hayden Fox would tell it either.

Why is everyone so surprised that Ireland was the one doing the trading? If Philbin wanted Davis on the team he would be. You are telling me if Joe was demanding to hold on to Davis that he would have still been traded?

I think you need to get a little perspective. Look at what the Pats and Jests have done in that EXACT same time span with the EXACT same detail.

You will be surprised at how things play out in the Real world. Look at the drafts, and free agent signings for both those teams.

I would agree with that but not until the talks got serious. Philbin didn't come into Jeff's office and say "Hey, I think we need to trade Vontae" like many around here assume. The Colts instigated the process and Ireland followed through with it.

Hey, I'll admit the jury is still out...but Nolan Carroll was always a project type player with great physical skills. I liked what I saw against Atlanta....he was great against Julio Jones who is no easy cover.

If he didn't "demand" he stay doesn't that tell you something?

Didn't Mando the day before Tweet it was Philbin's job to develop the players?

You're the one that said Philbin was the one that initiated this trade. That Philbin didn't want Vontae on the team and told Ireland to trade him. You've been the one to deflect everything away from Ireland and on to Philbin.

Please, do expand on this I'm curious to see where your going with it..

They wanted vontae bad.

Thats obvious with this...and ireland got a lot for him.

If they wanted Vontae that bad, Ireland could have gotten more...heck Ireland didn't get more than what he paid for him.

Yes, because the Jets are the example we want to follow. Next up, our roster will stop picking up trash and start sexual harrassing reporters while Philbin makes a foot fetish porno and its discovered that Tannehill's wife is 16. The Pats havent hit on a second round pick in years and have only continued to stay relevant because of Brady. That one is probably accurate of the Dolphins, as Ireland hasnt been able to land a second round pick yet.

The justifications for Ireland get more and more hilarious. "2 wrongs make a right! The Jets did it so Miami should copy them!!!!!".

You guys are all on crack if you don't believe that Ireland and the coaches keep a rolling conversation going about who might be expendable from a trade point of view, as they hone down the roster. Vontae Davis would have been on the top of that list.

Philbin, Sherman and O'Keefe know they need WR and maybe TE help, quicktime. As soon as the interest in Davis manifested, you can be sure they were talking with Ireland the whole time and collectively looking at who they might go after with whatever they got out of the Davis trade.

Ireland made the trade, but this was no surprise to Philbin or Coyle. Any other perspective is absurd, imo.
