Season has yet to begin & already Ireland is looking like big loser in Free Agency

All everyone says is how Ireland sucks. He didn't sign this guy, didn't sign that guy etc. You forget little details like the salary cap, the players will, etc.

How about some of the players he did find like Cam Wake? How many GMs have found all-pros in Canada? How about undrafted FA like Davone Bess?

Everyone also bashes him about D. Bryant. The dude just beat his mother! I think he was right on that one. Seriously, you are thinking about giving this guy MILLIONS of dollars, then you ask ALL the questions.

No GM is going to be perfect and every move he makes be right. Is he the best, no, but he's not the worst. If anyone sucks I think its the salary cap lady, Aponte. Seems we are always in cap trouble.

ONLY IN FREE AGENCY?

these draft pics [which i am on record as saying this MAY end up the worst finz draft ever, no matter how tannehill turns out] are doing NOTHING and if anyone thinks tannehill [who i like, a lot] WON any competition is nuts. the only big note on a player from this draft is MARTIN and its how bad he has been, not his steller play.

right now, martin is looking worse than columbo. anyone [including me] thought that would happen? our glaring need, besides playmaker at wr, was the right side of the line, and it didnt get fixed.

ireland is 2 years late being shown the door.

and nannee hasnt done poop since the first part of camp. he came in looking like he had turned a corner in his career but flamed out. and he has about 2 or 3 catches in the 2 games. if that.

marshall hasnt set the world on fire. he doesnt have the talent vontae has, not close. this starting of marshall was to light a fire under davis, to get him to step up his practices and get in better shape, not because marshall is soooo bad arse.

were in trouble already. the draft and free agency look like a bust so far and our good players on defense are hurt and have missed most of camp and ALL of the pre season games so far. and they dont appear real motivated to get back.

dansby needs to get over philbin cutting chad [homey the clown] ohsostinko and get on the field.

and get fines going for players listening to LUTHER CAMPBELL on i pads!!

the ocho, steinbach & garrard signings reek of deluded desperation. steadily building through the draft and coaching up the youth is the only way this team will ever compete with the elite teams again. trying to plug holes with dinosaurs only gets in the way of progress.

who was signed to make a big splash from FA?garrard? He might have (wv one second please... lol) but he didn't. he was as stopgap and a cheap one. 85? low risk high reward one year deal. so he didn't pan out so what? who did we sign that was expected to be an anchor that hasn't panned out? who? Nobody thats who.

How many free agents has green bay signed in the last five years? You want to get an idea of what we're doing you gotta look north.

Couldn't of said it better than this

Think long term, fellas. We're trying to build a dynasty here not a Jets one year wonder team :brewskis:

Yes building through the draft is what Philbin wants and being this the first year not all holes can be filled with one draft so you bring in cheap FA until those holes can be filled via the draft so it's not desperation.

Its hard to build through the draft when you have a GM that can't draft for crap. That is the major difference between the Dolphins and Packers. The Packers have a GM that knows how to draft talent and the Dolphins don't. I like the idea of buidling through the draft, but you have to have someone that can draft well for it to work.

Good plan...same plan Ireland and co. had 5 years ago when they put this mess together.

No that was the Parcells and Sparano plan on how to build a team.
Such a tired excuse. Do people actually believe our general manager sat around with his thumb up his butt while Parcells was here? And if so, shouldn't we have even LESS confidence in him if the guy who brought him here didnt?

What excuse? The Dolphins drafted and brought in players to suit the Parcells/Sparano style of football......ground and pound which is the reason Tony has a job today in NY. Now we have a new coach with a new philosophy and it's up to the front office to get those players in.

New coaches and new philosophies dont mean squat without a decent general manager that can bring in the personell to make it work. Ireland already failed with the regime and philosophy he was most comfortable with, why are we assuming he can bring in the right people to run a system he's not accustomed to?

Exactly! Ross should have brought in someone from the Packers front office to be the GM once Philbin was hired. That would have made a lot more sense than keeping Ireland around.

Who's they? Ross has stated more than once Ireland is his GM so unless he has a change of heart they will be sticking with JI.
