Armando Salguero Suggests We're Going from Bad to Worse

Pioli is related to the Tuna and I spite him for that, but he knows talent.

Hell the Tuna was the good ol days....I would go back to a tough team and build with that then this fast break team that can't fast break.......If Sparano had this QB we would have a tough D, RT would not be throwing 35 times a game, our best two LB would not be playing for another team, other teams wouldn't be calling us soft as the Saints did earlier this yr and there would not be a bully gate......yes sign me up for that

I am not going to lie. I like Mangini. He was brilliant on ESPN. He found good players in Cleveland. Finally, he outted the Pats.

He seems like a bright, level headed guy. Just not head coach material.

Didn't Mangini and Aponte work together with the Jets? I seem to remember that. Could be the source of that speculation (as in, Aponte is pushing for him). The Tannenbaum thing makes less sense. He's a cap guy who moved over to personnel. We already have a cap person in Aponte.

Anyway the Mangini thing is scary, if true. The guy has some pretty goddawful people skills.

Bingo-Browns

Dawn Aponte joined the Browns organization this offseason after spending the last three years at the NFL office, where she served on the League’s Management Council as the Vice President of Labor Finance. In her current role with the Browns, Aponte’s primary responsibilities include player contract negotiations, salary cap management and player cost budgeting, League compliance, and assisting in other legal matters. Aponte is the key liaison with the NFL Management Council and works closely with Head Coach Eric Mangini on football administrative matters.

IF someone does go, Joe will end up getting more power. So, something like Brian Gaine being elevated or Dawn Aponte getting more responsibility will happen.

Over the last few years I have done a 180 on Mangini

Here is my list

* Has succeeded and failed as HC
* While an analyst it was obvious that he was articulate and merged his philosophies with some of the great minds of today's NFL
* He is defensive mastermind
* He is an intellectual football-wise
* His defensive schemes fooled Tom Brady
* His personnel decisions in Cleveland were not all bad. In fact, he had a talented roster...he just did not have a QB.
* He outed the Pats with Spygate. I respect that SO MUCH.
* I respect that an org like the 49ers would want him within their franchise

I did not like the idea of Mangini years ago, no I do not mind.

Aponte and Mangini were together in New York and Cleveland and remain close friends, she's even tried to turn Philbin into a wannabe Mangini.

Dawn Aponte gaining more power bothers me most.

Mike Tannebaum is not qualified to run a team. He was a cap guy at the start. I do not like him in a major role with this team.

Brian Gaine might be a "compromise" in all of this. Don't get lazy and say he is "just like Ireland". He might have his own ideas and has some linkage to Philbin via Kirk Ferentz.

Scott Pioli I have hammered here in the past just because he is the son in law of Bill Parcells. However, he is great talent evaluator. He blew it on his HC decisions. He would bring respect to the Fins FO and direction. He is not a bad move.

In the end, I will stick to my prediction: Ireland canned, Sherman resigns, Aponte and Gaine get elevated in some capacity...Joe stays and has more personnel power with the team. After the coaching staff does a stink out loud job to finish the year, Joe Philbin ends up with MORE responsibility and power.

Names Salguero thinks are likely to be strongly considered if changes are made:

Eric Mangini
Scott Pioli
Mike Tannenbaum

I'm not sure how much of this is a last ditch attempt to help his boy Jeff Ireland by putting the fear of God into the Dolphins fanbase to the point that we'd gladly take Ireland over the 'even worse' scenarios he presents here, but I absolutely want to vomit right now.

The QB is in place so i trust any of these guys with building Oline and Dline and skill positions MORE than Ireland

Mangini -> what as coach? Not sure he is an improvement over Jeff
Pioli -> GM -> my first choice of this lot
Tannenbaum -> GM my second choice of this lot

Brian Gaine getting promoted is still a lot better than Ireland -> if Gaine fails joe goes with him -> If Joe fails -> Gaine goes with him and we start fresh

Aponte and Mangini were together in New York and Cleveland and remain close friends, she's even tried to turn Philbin into a wannabe Mangini.

Joe would be lucky to have Mangini's football intelligence.

Those names are for Exec positions most likely. If one of them came on board the new GM and HC would answer to them. IMO the % is high they would not become GM or in Mangini's case HC. At least this is what I got from the article.

Thank you. Knew I had read that someplace.

This whole Jets/Ross thing shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Ross has opined about going to Dolphins games as a kid but he's spent more of his life in New York and tried to buy the Jets first.

People give Awsi Dooger **** about liking the Jets but the dingbat who literally owns our football team is a huge fan of the Jets. Let that stew a minute.
