Dan Campbell

That was my impression when he was with the Dolphins. Cave man type who could instill toughness and reach a certain level but simply not sharp enough to deal with requirements of top of the league.

Granted, that's based on sideline demeanor and media interviews. But there was little variance and seemed clear cut.

I'm not going to compare any coach to coach Flo like he's some golden standard. But look at all the intricate details and decisions that has to be make interms of instilling a culture, vision, daily roster/personnel moves, general management, communication specialist, evaluation speacilist, game day-coach etc that you have to be rather exceptional at inorder for you team to have a shot.

Coach Flo literally held every job in NE and i believe he was there for some 14 years? Can someone verify that?

Point being, There's a reason why guys like Gase will always have a hardtime being longterm successful HC.

Not knocking Dan and i'm hope i'm wrong. But i don't see HC in him. I see a guy that can possibly be a decent coordinator but not the guy running the entire show.

I like him but he is going to inherit a team with a lot of holes and a QB who may be traded in the off season which will mean he will likely have a rookie QB starting next year or at least by the 2022 season. Of course teams hire new head coaches because they weren’t very good the previous year and hopefully they will give Campbell time to turn the Lions around.

I think the Jaguars, Chargers, and Jets are better situations for new head coaches than the Lions job but at least Campbell is finally getting his shot as a head coach. I didn’t think he was ready when he was with the Dolphins to be a head coach but he has 5 years working under Payton and that should certainly be a big help in preparing him to be a head coach in the NFL.

He got qb that good thing bad things it lions.. there in tough division w arron Rogers...good luck coach.

At least the Lions players should find it a refreshing change, hope it works out for Campbell.

Lions are crazy! Dan is not HC material
I concur. I think he was the TE coach here in Miami before getting promoted as head coach for a few games. The players will love playing for him but he will get out-coached by the better coaches in this league.
