MERGED2X:QB job holdup irking Frerotte\Gus sounding like\I do not care...

Did you see the change the last two week's in AJ's comfort level? It has been night and day...

WAY less locking onto receivers and a lot more check down's to backs. His QB rating went from the 40's to the 90's in two weeks, I say let him start against Atlanta and see what happens...

There was also some talk on here about Gus and his YPA and how much better it was than Feeley.
His career YBA is 7.05 But if you take out his 2 starts in Minn. When his YPA was 10.62 his career YPA is 6.53. He had 1 game in Minny where he passed for 4 tochdowns against SF I think Randy Moss caught 2 of them and they were both 40-50 yard TD's. Hell Randy would make Ryan Leaf look Great.
how many games has he had like that throwing over two TDs? I'd think that Gus's success in Minnesota concerning Moss had more to do with the system wherein he played. it also had to do with the fact that he was never really competing with Culpepper but came in when Culpepper was hurt, no? so now, with one eye on his biological clock he wants to start and here he is competing with somebody who did NOT come over with the player/coach buddy system and expects the book to be tossed out the window forgetting that its still NFL competition. it probably will be frerotte out there starting come day one - this is my call, although i think its a shame that feeley NEVER got the player support he needed to feel that he was leading this team. its a hard place to play and feeley just might not have what it takes upstairs to play here. i think he possesses that "screw off, i'm the man" attitude but he's not allowing it to show yet. he needs to take it by the footballs come thursday if he wants to start 9/11.

he does need to develop mentally as a QB and become a bit more crafty but he hasnt even come to this point to where he is thinking this way until he establishes a sense of leadership. he basically has to take this job and make it his.

No arguing there. I think Minny fit gus like a glove. But the arguement will be, Linehan was the OC there so everyone expects the same production here... Gus's track record doesn't say that will be so.
The rumor in Minny was that Gus was promised a starting job here in Miami. Minny wanted him back but he wanted 1 last chance to be a starter. He wouldn't sign in Denver for that reason. He was going to back up Plummer there. I still believe he was told there was no way he couldn't be out Feeley with him already knowing the play book like he does. But Gus has never been or done anything during his career.

gus had every opportunity to grab the bull by the horns... he had 2 weeks of running with the ones, and 2 games to show he should be the starter and he basically blew it... whether its his timing or just hes not very accurate it doesn't matter, hes had enough time to develop some timing and become comfortable with the recievers... hes gotta hope feeley has a ****ty *** day on thursday or it looks like feeley will be the starter...

Gus sounding like a little b*tch

When AJ lost the starting position he said he would rather start, but he supports Gus and wants to do what's best for the team. No fuss, nothing.
Everywhere I look today there is a media story about Gus whining about the starting position.

Shut up Gus! If you want the starting job, then make the plays!! :yell:

has he ever had any good games NOT playing under the roof in Minn.?

Actually, he did start for three years in Washington. Just for information only. I didn't think he was that good then but... He had a pro bowl year(somehow) in 1996. Norv Turner was the head coach.
1996

16 games started QB rating 79.3 12 TD’s 11 interceptions completion % 57.4 12 fumbles, record 9-7

1995

11 games started QB rating 70.2 13 TD’s 13 interceptions completion % 50.3 7 fumbles, record 6-10

1997

13 games started QB rating 73.8 17 TD’s 12 interceptions completion % 50.7 8 fumbles, record 8-7-1

just for everyones personal knowledge....LOL...
don't take this as a personal endorsement...LOL

Dayum, this guy sure does fumble a lot!

Hardly the comment I would expect from a columnist. Makes me truly leary of reading anything you may contribute.

Gus is just stating something that almost every QB that competes and expects to start says.... Offensively you have to have time to develop as a team...

We are just perpetuating the QB woes for another year with indecision after indecision.

As a major contributor I would expect you not to feed the fodder of trolls.... I was thinking of getting athe VIP... but if this isthe actions of Major contributors.. I think I may not.

Gus does sound whiny.. Doesnt exactly instill confidence, I wonder what his teamates think.

Its not a bad idea to split snaps until one separates himself from the other. The mistake would be to start the wrong guy.IMO we will need both of them this season anyway and AJ still needs the work.

I don't care, but if its that close, start feeley. Hes younger, people say he has talent, and if we lose, we draft high. At least we finally know with feeley right?

I agree.... bit not to lose.... back Feeley to WIN....Feeley has to throw downfield...Take risks... and keep defenses honest.

If its close... Feeley is the incumbent. And can only be assisted by more reps.

 I'm sure the VIPers are heartbroken...

Gus does sound like a wuss.

You know what is really sad...Gus knows the offense (supposedly)...he has worked with the OC back when they were both in Minny...IMO he should have locked this up by now...so...could this mean that A.J. is getting more comfortable in this system? Could this mean that A.J. just needed some extra time to adjust? A.J. is closing the gap...YEAH!!!

Like I said...I will support whoever our QB is...but in the long-run we need to know how A.J. looks in this system...I guess he's starting to look better.

I mean...I won't lie to you all...I want A.J. to win the job (right from the beginning of camp) and be our starter...it makes more sense all around...if you don't know what I mean by this...look at InFins post awhile back.

Go Fins!!!
