Rosen or Take QB with 1st Rd Pick, NOT BOTH

We have 14 games to evaluate Rosen and everyone will know by the end of the season if he is worth building around. We have 3 first round picks and will probably have the first pick in the 2nd round 2020. Anyone of those picks will get us a future 1st round. Worse case scenario we could have Rosen, Tau and Lawrence and still have plenty of draft capital.

Initially tho they didn't know, just like Rosen now. and they drafted a clear cut top QB and let them compete. Brees wasnt all-world initially. It was only when Brees wrecked his shoulder did they (incorrectly) assume he would probably amount to less than Rivers and that Brees then got a flame in him to prove the doubters wrong plus Payton had a lot to do with his rise to greatness. And WE didn't assess him well either. He came to Miami looking for a job and we let him walk to New Orleans.

Anyway, we will likely have Rosen and draft Tua. So theres nothing wrong with keeping both, developing both, in case one flames out.

The Chargers were fortunate in that they ended up with the top pick and lucked into another hall of fame QB after their first choice turned them down. The end result doesn't justify the action.....the reality is that they used the first overall pick on a quarterback when they had a budding star on the roster. It was a horrible waste of resources.

I get that Miami fans are so starved for anything resembling competence at the QB position that many want to keep throwing darts until one hits. And if at the end of the year this coaching staff is convinced Tua is the answer and Josh is not then of course they should select him. But if Rosen turns out to be the better QB then its a huge blunder. There's no getting around that.

Keep Rosen - draft Tua plus Fromm and a late rounder too.

It’s time folks...

Use all you got to get it right.

Pay Aaron Rodgers $25 million on a one year rental plus all of the above...

You are @raving ........

Easy... Keep Rosen. He made 2 PERFECT TD throws against NE. Just dropped. Tua will be a bust. As a Patriots fan, I'd love to see the fish blow it as usual. However, Flores has jettisoned the top talent and gotten a haul of picks. Fleeced Houston! I don't understand why you are all upset about the rebuild.

We arent. The rest of the NFL is.

How was it a waste of resources by the Chargers? By taking a QB with the top pick they were able to flip that into Philip Rivers, a 3rd round pick (65), 1st round pick in 2005 (12th overall) and a 5th round pick in 2005 (144).

We traded a 2nd round pick for Rosen 62nd overall and a 2020 5th round pick. If we end up drafting Tua with the 1st overall pick next year it would no different than the following teams draft strategy.

Panthers: 2010-2-48 Jimmy Clausen--2011-1-1-Cam Newton
Browns: 2017-2-52-Deshon Kizer--2018-1-1-Baker Mayfield
Lions: 2007-2-43-Drew Stanton--2008-1-1-Matthew Stafford

Hmmmm

Don't really have a strong opinion either way on the Brees trade value issue.

I don't think I would use the Panthers, Browns, or Lions to back a position though.

I aspire to more than any of those teams have accomplished on a consistant bases for the past two decades. I guess you can make a case for the Carolina having some good seasons, but certainly not perennial contenders, and I think Bernie Kosar, a a bum named Eric Hipple were the last two QBs to win a playoff game for the Browns amd Lions respectively.

Those teams may not be perennial super bowl contenders but considering Drew Stanton, and Jimmy Clausen are out of the NFL and were never considered to be viable starters by any other NFL team it's hard to say it was a bad decision to draft Newton or Stafford after spending a 2nd round pick on the incumbents the previous year before they were drafted.

Kizer is on his 3rd team in 3 years and Mayfield had a terrific rookie campaign so I see no doubts there either.

If anything it would have been worse for all 3 of those teams to have stuck with their 2nd round picks as starters for the wait and hope approach.

it does not matter what QB come to dolphins. it will not be easy. if it was 2012 or 2017 it would be easier. we are rock bottom team.

Eric Hipple— that’s a deep cut, as they say. I hadn’t heard that name in a very long time. But he retired by the end of the 80s. The Detroit QB who beat the Cowboys in the 1991 playoffs was Eric Kramer who took over for an injured Rodney Peete that year. That was the last time the Lions won a playoff game and their only postseason win since the 1950s.

Absolutely not, If rosen is that good he can fight off Tua or whomever we draft then yeah.. How would you feel if we skipped on Tua he goes to the jets after darnold fizzles out and wins a superbowl.. NO it just doesn't make sense to me to take that risk, Rosen will get the starting gig in 2020 to start and it will be with a young talented newly rebuilt roster .. IF he goes and Throws 35 tds the next season he keeps his job simple as that, if he falters Its Tua time but He will start next season to buy tua a chance to get comfortable as an NFL QB.

You do realize if we draft Tua, Rosen plays well and he doesn't see the field because of it we can STILL get a kings ransom for Tua, SImilar to how the chargers the situation when they had Drew Brees and Phillip RIvers god they made the mistake in that one but if Bree's hadn't gotten injured they would have likely been able to trade him for multiple 1st rounders.
Pass on Tua... Pass....

There are threads dedicated to you guys calling for Flores and your GM to be fired! You guys are doing it the right way. Miami is devoid of any talent. Even playing their best, your players can't compete. You've traded your best players for a haul of picks. This is a legit and well planned rebuild. Don't blow the #1 pick on Tua though, or it will be all for naught...

The Colts, on the other hand, could have won more games because of the talent they had.

17 points a game is one of the worst offenses in the league. 24 points is average or slightly above. This is a VERY wide range for you to randomly choose.

As for our defense, did you watch the New England game at all? 14 points were directly because of offense so our defense gave up 29 points against a high powered Patriot offense while being on the field almost the whole game.

This is such lazy analysis.
And you would have ripped my ass if I said we scored 40 points a game. And no, I didn't see the game, because unfortunately, I have a job that I work every Sunday. I don't live and breathe football. It's entertainment. I was just implying that if Rosen is respectable, with this o line, etc, he deserves another season. I would rather build the rest of the team around a serviceable QB. How many super bowl wins did we have with Marino???? It takes a TEAM.

They should resign they guy from San Jose State who was on the roster last year. He's better than Rosen. Let him play the rest of the way.

Rosen is going to play well enough that Miami will pick one of the leftover QB's. Probably Love (who people like). I don't expect Rosen to play well enough to discourage Grier/Allen/McKenzie from taking a QB.

This franchise has been without a franchise QB for a generation... we also haven’t won a playoff game in almost a generation...they will not pass on the best QB in this draft...having that pick and Rosen in the fold is a good thing!

Let’s remember history and the mistakes that could have changed it.......

1) drafting Jamar Fletcher over Drew Brees in the 2001 draft...great job pornstache!

2) 2005 draft...Little Nicky chooses Ronnie Brown over Aaron Rodgers #2 overall...

3) 2006 ....Little Nicky strikes again...chooses Culpepper over Brees

4) Parcells chooses a left tackle over Matty Ice!

No....they will not screw up again...despite Rosen they will draft the best QB in this draft!
