Something that worries me about Chris Grier

Ross has been in the draft room in previous years, he knows who advocated for whom. I have to believe Ross wouldnt have kept Grier unless he had different expectations with him firmly in charge.

Who chose Brian Flores to be HC? Or, does that not matter to you?
He hired Flores, who was a home run imo at the most important position of the program, and then didn’t give up equity to get the best franchise qb in the draft..two big time moves that will change the face of this franchise..well done in his 2nd year, I can only judge him since His first year with final say.

Oh and an addendum to my post a few pages ago about Grier.

If this roster doesn't work there is no more excuse for Ross to keep the front office in house anymore (VPs, GM, Scouting, Medical, Coaching). It all goes next time. Hell maybe even Ross goes.

None of them go ti at least post '21 season. Probably longer

Bingo

Here is the thing on my original post....it is not black and white as some of you are trying to turn this in to. When you voice a concern of a 20 year history, it is not simply wiped away with he hired Flores. I hope he does turn it around. However you have to look at the whole picture and their is a 20 year history of absolute failure that he was a contributor to. Hopefully he has learned from the mistakes of the past by EVERYONE involved including himself and adjusted the way he approaches things. What is that definition of insanity? I do like the Flores hire and hopefully this draft does work out, along with future ones.

From my knowledge Grier changed almost all the scouts around him from before...He brought in the KC guy and the Raiders old GM and I remember someone else as well.

This is when he was promoted to GM

Our team has consistently NOT been able to draft OL for two decades, whether that has to do with Grier primarily or not, I don't know, but that has been my biggest concern with Grier - his complete inability to draft any semblance of talent on the OL. But I am glad we brought in McKenzie who is a known commodity at building the OL.

As I said if this roster doesn't work out, the entire front office, staff and even the owner can go. This rebuild reminds me of the year Parcels came in and tore **** down. Jimmy came in and the edict was "win one for Danny-boy". It became clear that the two egos were not going to mesh and had to give. When Bill came in he removed the dysfunction that had languished post-Jimmy. Then we go into the same cycle with all of Parcels goons and the experiment needed to end.

Last year's tear down was needed. It was long over due and hopefully it works because I don't think anyone on this board wants to rehash the last two tear down failures.

Davis is the one pick Flores should a lot of emotion for....I assume that one was all his.

That could be the case, I just feel like he offers little...not even sure how much of a space-eater he will be
Would you have liked Davis later, or is it the player?
It is the player.

Have you considered this? If Ross thought as you do, Brian Flores would not be here. Nor would all of the draft specialists that Grier hired. We probably would have continued, business as usual, overpaying under performing players and paying top dollar for primadonna FAs who never seem to actually make us better while wrecking our cap. Meanwhile, our new planless GM selects players according to his board without even consulting his HC and ignoring the team scouts. Heck, he wouldn't even have Grier around to ignore lol

If Tua is the man, and I do believe he is......then Ill change my mind about Grier. Right now, I'm on the fence, as last year was pretty underwhelming and Im still a little salty about Charles Harris. He did accumulated a boatload of picks for 2020 and 2021 though.

I was hyper critical of Grier during this draft. The bottom line is, Grier and the Dolphins evaluate talent different than the rest of the world apparently. They had a plan and stuck to it. I say they reached for a lot of players, so does the rest of the media. The front office says they got the guys they targeted. Who’s is right? Only time will tell.

I love the fact that we were able to get Tua without moving though. So, Grier gets props for that. As for the rest of the draft.... I can only say this..... I’m a Dolphins fan and I hope Grier was totally right and I’m totally wrong.

While I was not one of those who wanted Grier to be the GM because I considered him part of the problem for the last 20 years. I just hope he has learned over the years and he finally gets it right. He was the GM last year and I wasn’t that impressed with the Dolphins 2019 draft. I thought he did a better job in signing college free agents than he did in the draft last year.
I look at this as Grier’s opportunity to show all of us who doubted him that we were wrong and he is the right GM for the job. If after the 2021 draft the Dolphins haven’t added enough talent to make this a playoff
team by the 2022 season, I think Ross will have to be looking for a new GM and a new HC. I am rooting for Grier and Flores to be successful but only time will tell if this rebuild is finally the rebuild that gets it right.
