Finheaven's QB Rankings?

This thread is like a comedy act. Of all the quarterbacks in the league, you guys are seriously aiming your most condemning remarks for Colin Kaepernick?

He averaged 8.3 yards per attempt last season and even in a supposedly down year he's at 7.5 this season, for a lifetime number of 7.8. In other words, a full yard above Tannehill.

That 7.8 is excellent, and makes the 49ers a legit threat in the playoffs. You can string together road wins with a quarterback who makes plays down the field.

Let me guess, we'll have happy adjustments, based on personnel or similar. It's never a thread without happy adjustments.

As always, I hope you guys don't speculate if you are saving barbs for a quarterback of the caliber of Colin Kaepernick.

Lots of short term overreaction going on. That's another popular theme.

I would take at least a dozen guys above Tannehill, including the veterans. Why are so many people shy about naming the veterans? Winning one Super Bowl in the next handful of years is more valuable than attaching full faith in a 25 year old with mediocre stats and a questionable upside, based on his atypical background.
I was very close to taking this sort of position myself, but I do think Tannehill has a decent enough chance to improve to the level where the team would be highly competitive long-term, rather than for just a few years.

So would you take Kaep over Tannehill? That is what your post implies...

well with aaron rodgers out with a broken collarbone there is no other qb i'd rather have for the long term than the one we do have...people just don't get how good this kid is and how high his ceiling is and what's left on the bone
Hoops, I totally respect your opinion on football matters, but this is a bit much. I mean as much as Shouright gets grief for putting Dalton or Foles in his top ten, putting Tannehill as the best young franchise QB in the entire league is equally wrong. I mean, c'mon man!

In order:

1) Rodgers
2) Wilson
3) Rivers
4) Ryan
5) Luck
6) Stafford
7) Foles
8) Kaepernick
9) Newton
10) Dalton

Tannehill may improve in the future to the point that the list changes, but in the absence of a guarantee of such improvement, which is impossible, I have to substitute any of the above for him at the present time.

And if Manning, Brees, Brady, Romo, and Roethlisberger were younger and entering or not too far into their primes, I'd take them over Tannehill, as well, which puts Tannehill currently 16th in the league on my list, right about average.

Holy ****, man. Your list is ****ed up.

Dalton is currently outperforming Tannehill considerably, and Foles is outperforming Tannehill a great deal.

Here's the issue I have with using stats as the number 1 baseline for all evaluation....everyone of those stats for each player, involves 10 different guys on the field having an effect on those stats, they have a plethora of coaches involved in the team's scheme, play calling, play design, and player development. Evaluating any player without first taking into account that every one of their stats is influenced by a number of other factors is not being fully objective.

to each his own...he's not the best now but i think he will be...this isn't about what he is right now although he's a qb you can win with already this is about what he is in 2 years...and what i see is one of the best in the game...look at his improvement in 1 year already...from 12 to 20 tds with 3 games left 5 percent increase in completion percentage from 57 to 62 and an uptick from 76 to 84 for 8 points in qbr...

what makes you guys think this is a maxed out guy??? he's not...what this guys doing is getting better...

i'm glad people are starting to come around on it though...i see a lot of guys who are high on tannehill as far as the young qbs in the league and him being one of the legit ones

With the Dolphins line I can't believe nobody added Drew Bree's,..

I would take Brady, Manning, Drew Bree's, Over Tannehill. There is Not one young QB He couldnt be better than

Give me any of the old 3 proven guys at this point with 6 games to win for a Super Bowl and I take it.

And this is precisely why one should evaluate those other factors statistically, as well.

Well, I've always liked Tannehill and I do think he's got upside. But I have to admit I don't see the elite "put throws in tight windows" ability (a la Aaron Rodgers, P. Manning, Brady, Brees) yet. Nor do I see the "escape the pocket, break the defense" ability of a Russell Wilson, Kaep, Newton. He has elements of both, but I don't know that he'll ever be elite in either one. Being above average in both may be enough to make him our franchise QB though.
