Jacksonville and Buffalo can't score. The scoreboard loves Adam Gase in close games and right now the remaining schedule loves Adam Gase. These Dolphins have many faults but they do find ways to put up enough points to defeat the statuesque teams.
Impressions can change in a hurry. That's all I'm saying. I never like to predict these Crowd Dolphins to go on a winning streak or losing streak. This schedule sets up nicely for a modest winning streak to conclude the regular season.
If he goes 9-7 he's coming back.
Today the 4th and 3 punt call from the Vikings 43 was maddening and inexcusable. I mentioned it in another thread. It deserves its own thread. Joe Philbin was the best recent guy we've had in understanding situational football. He called time outs at the correct time, at least while positioning the offense. No question Philbin would have known enough to go for it on 4th and 3, given that score and scenario.
It's almost like Gase needs a sideline tutor. If they have specialists in the booth telling them when to throw the red flag, then certainly there should be a specialist regarding game strategy. After all, game strategy shows up every week, while the red flag situation maybe a handful of times per season.
Our offensive strategy was laughable. As others posted, the Vikings blitzes weren't exactly disguised. Many blitzers were delayed and never threatened to get there. We should have had play calls designed to exploit those gaps but instead we acted as if one deep drop and slow developing play after another was the best of all possible worlds.
I'm sure the All-22 guys will tell us that we didn't see what we think we saw. Maybe I can collect on my Dolphins +8 points on appeal, as soon as the All-22 guys get through with their rationalization.
