on the bottom line it says the marlins took 5 pitchers last years do you know who they are and how they are doing in the minors
not last year, but we've drafted a lot of pitchers the last couple of years.
but here's who we've taken...
2006-Brett Sinkbiel: Top 100 prospect according to Baseball America. Already in Double-A. Struggling a bit, but has a nice sinker. Could become a closer down the road
2005-Chris Volstad-top 100 prospect. About 6'7. Single A, but looks like he'll be a stud
Aaron Thompson-Don't know how he's doing, and I think he's hurt right now, but has got a lot of value.
Jacob Marceaux-Struggled as a starter. Is being developed as a reliever
Sean West-Top 100 Prospect
Ryan Tucker-I believe he's hurt right now.
2004-Tyler Tankersly-In the big leagues as a lefty specialist. Looked like he'd become a closer, but got hurt and struggled at times this year.
We drafted another guy in either 02 or 04 (one of those years we got Hermida), but he's out of our farm system because of drug addictions.
I'm glad we took Dominguez, he's got great defense and a great hitter. Plus, he good be in the bigs soon. Miggy could/should move back to the OF due to his defensive disabilities.
I'm big into the Marlins (not baseball in general, though) but I know nothing about the MLB draft. My question is.. were there any solid CF prospects available when we picked?
in the first no, The two guys we were really looking at were the catcher from Georgia Tech that Baltimore took, and the guy the D-Backs took. In baseball a lot of the drafting has to do with signability since if a player doesn't sign within a year, they can re-enter the draft (Luke Horchever, last year's number 1 pick, was actually pciked by the Dodgers in the first 2 years ago). Scott Boras is a very hard negotiator (Stephen Drew and Jared Weaver almost didn't sign with their respective teams) and a lot of his clients tend to fall a lot farther than they should in the draft, but this year (suprisingly) they didn't fall.
