I wasn't a huge Jason Licht fan, but I think he hit a home run recruiting Bruce Arians as Head Coach and then Todd Bowles as Defensive Coordinator. Jamies Winston may be the death of that team, but if there's anyone who can coax the best out of Winston, it's Arians.Arians to Tampa is strong. I really like that pairing just as a football fan. He's got some weapons down there to play with. And the timing with Bowles possibly reuniting to become his DC again, that is pretty sweet. Good for them. I'd be thrilled if I was either man. I don't think anyone is really optimistic with Winston, but if he has a chance to improve Arians is a good bet to make it happen. If not, the man will move on and get his new QB.
Excellent analysis Spike! That really opened my eyes about their intentions (off. vs def.). I am fully on board the RICHARD train & will be VERY DISAPPOINTED with a FLORES selection. Patriot assistants suck! There I said it. :nuke:Stephen Ross and Chris Grier were really active last weekend to meet with Kris Richard, Dennis Allen, Eric Bienemy and Flores and now things seem pretty quiet. We may well have our next Coach clearly identified, but because their teams - the Dallas Cowboys, the New Orleans Saints, the Kansas City Chiefs and the New England Patriots are all focused on this weekend's playoff games, it would be an inappropriate distraction for the respective co-ordinators if our team's desires were leaked.
However, I think that it's really significant that 3 of these 4 are Defensive guys, while the past five Dolphins Head Coaches (Adam Gase, Dan Campbell, Joe Philbin, Tony Sparano and even Cam Cameron) all came from an Offensive background. 3 years ago when Adam Gase was appointed, I seem to recall that a high percentage of the prospects interviewed were predominantly Offensive guys. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Stephen Ross may still do his thing and appoint a known existing beloved Dolphin, Darren Rizzi to the job, but my read is that when other teams like Arizona, Tampa Bay and Green Bay are all appointing Offensive guys, we are set to go in the other direction, by appointing a Defensive guy and my hunch is that it will be Kris Richard. In fact it is significant that we didn't even attempt to interview someone like Cliff Kingsbury, Bruce Arians or Matt Le Fleur. We're set to hand the reins to a Defensive guy.
Meanwhile in Miami .....nothing is being accomplished.
He will be reassigned to another team as OC...Nobody really gets fires in NFL anymore.Gase?
No lets overreact ...Not true...Richard is still in the playoffs...So is Flores...So is Bieniemy for that matter.
Unless they choose Rizzi or trade for John Harbaugh...they have to wait!
